Where is the Best Wine Bar in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
My husband and I were thrilled when Beaujo’s opened in Edina. This area needed something chic as everything else around 50th and France smacks of franchises and corporate owned chains no matter how much revitalization our area here goes through. The food is wonderful and one needs to be mindful that it is not a restaurant. It is a wine bistro in the true tradition of the type I see in Germany or France. Emphasizing an extensive menu is not the point. The focus being a selection of some very decent wines with some tasty food accompaniments. It made me feel like I was back in Europe. I was raised in Chicago & New York, and Frankfurt & Paris when we were overseas, so I was thrilled to find this gem. I hope people from the area embrace this place (and the wonderful owners) and come out of their safe comfort zone of ersatz “ethnic” eating habits. I love it and wish the owners great success.Pros + A one of a kind traditional bistro.Cons – Closes early for a wine bistro. Small. Coul
My wife was told about Fermentations through a casual acquaintence who had never eaten there, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. I would give the food 4.75 out of 5 stars – although creative, there are better places in the metro. What really sets this place apart, though, is the thoughtful selection of wine flights. They are reasonably priced and the selections (3 glasses in each flight) have obviously been well-researched and grouped logically to allow the user to contrast and compare each vintage. We’ll definitely be back.Pros + Wine flights, Courteous staff, Good food
My friend and I met for a little wine and some small plates for my birthday and overall thought it was OK. I love the decor. The wine flights were great. The Bruchetta was awesome. Things went downhill from there. We got the app sampler and the calamari and crab cakes are only ok. Then we each got a small salad. The Panzanella was a HUGE mistake. It was cut up garlic bread with olves and a couple shards of bacon. Even the Muddy Paws cheesecake (which I love) was only ok b/c it was still partially frozen. Next time I might stick with the Wine and get a full plate of Bruchetta and call it a night.
We happened upon this place by accident – had heard of it but weren’t planning to go – on an off night (Wednesday). First and foremost, the service was great. Not snobbish while not fake as happens all too often. I always feel uncomfortable when the wait staff kisses up. Our waiter was very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. The wine list appeared to have a number of reasonably-priced wines – we found something very nice without having to splurge. Our salad and entrees were wonderful – great attention to detail and all flavors worked remarkably well together. For the record, we had the butter lettuce salad, roasted butternut squash agnolotti and the stuffed trout (onion, mushroom and bacon), and were treated with a free taste of the fries with paprika and aioli, which were outstanding as well. All in all, this is probably the overall best restaurant experince we’ve had in some time, and I’m frankly surprised that I’m saying that as we’ve had a lot of great experiences (and some n
