Where is the Best Wine Bar in Dallas, Texas?
I do not see a lot of advertisements on this spot, actually this is where I found out about it. The moment you walk in to the store, you think to yourself, oh no, another “retail wine bar” which we all know are pretty to look at but not very fun to enjoy wine in. Then you see this small green sign that says Bodega Bar. I walked in last night and was floored. Maybe 80 or so people relaxing to lounge music in this oasis cave with dark woods and lit with candles. The house wines were as good as most of the premium wines in Restaurants with even better selections that didn’t make you cringe at the prices. I even saw a wine I had seen at Cru for $55 that they were selling for $25. I guess you can get the best of both worlds at my new favorite hangout. Talking to a member of the staff (Wendy) and the owner (Amir), it gets busy on the weekends but during the weeks it is a more relaxed atmosphere. Found this little neighborhood Italian joint in Addison on the corner of Beltline & Midway. The ambiance could use some work, but the food is tasty and the service was very good. The menu is more upscale then you would think with above average pricing and a good wine list. Hats off to “Marco” the server who provided fantastic service and recommendations on the food and desert, which was very tasty! Marco is from Mexico, but hey the name sounds Italian. Give this place a shot. I am adding it to my favorites list for Italian.
Been to a lot of clubs/lounges throughout the country, I have seen snazzier, bigger places, but the atmosphere at candleroom is awesome. Not because of the place , but because of the people. (This is why a place stays in business over 1.5 years) The door guy Ali, is polite and courteous, not a muscle bound power hungary maniac. he is pretty fair in letting people on a first come basis regrdless of race or gender (unlike some places i know), sure the members get VIP service , but thats business, if you do not understand that, stay home and continue to watch reruns of “Freinds” Tommy D and Sean run a great place with a friendly staff. The only drawback is that i think it way too crowded on Saturday night, I say hold the line to let the folks enjoy themselves inside, or word of advise come early and avoid the lines. Prices are standard, DJ plays a mixture from top 40 , to classics, to songs everyone sings too. Good scene..an occasional celebrity or two on Wednsday/Saturday night. A
We have been hanging out on the patio at Vino for about 2 years. We have come to know the owners and it is like an extension of our own living room. I have had numerous gathering there from birthdays, New Years, anniversaries and just good old girls night. There are numerous regulars who first met over a glass of wine at the bar but now meet to discuss wine and over time have become friends. The staff is great ! Denise the wine expert is awesome, she is well traveled and a certified somlier(sp) she selects the wine and has yet to recommend a wine we did not like.
