Loved this hotel. We stayed for two nights during our first exploration of Pittsburgh. It was conveniently located on the north shore within easy walking/driving distance of local sights, downtown, and the south shore. Stayed on the third floor in the sumptuous Empire suite. Four poster king-sized bed, large fireplace and chandelier all in the room. The art on the walls was splendid as was the beautiful Victorian furniture that adorned the room. The bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms I have stayed in. That’s not all. The breakfasts were out of this world. Beautifully presented by the very friendly and professional staff in an intimate dining room. This is heaven on earth.
The SceneThis pretty, 35-acre property houses just two accommodations–for people, that is. Surrounded by spacious green lawns and lots of trees, The Carriage House looks like a little white farmhouse. The equally charming Log Cabin feels as if it was lifted right out of a Laura Ingalls’ storybook. All stays include a three-course breakfast, and for equine guests (who get their own stalls), that means lots of hay.The DetailsThe Carriage House is a sweet space with such country touches as a quilt hanging above the fireplace and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls on the pencil-post bed. It also has a private pasture. The Log Cabin offers more space, and the decor is uncluttered with a sparse but thoughtful collection of folk art. Although the B&B is only 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, it’s definitely for those in a country state of mind.
