Where is the Best Waterfront Dining in Austin, Texas?
I have eaten here so many times, my BF & I actually CRAVE the BORDER BURGER (I add bacon, too!). The actually cook their patties on a wood-burning grill, and the flavor really comes through. I have only once had a bad experience: I think someone made a mistake, but I won’t hold it against them! The ambiance is great if you want something absolutely laid-back. Stumble in wearing your swimsuit and flip-flops, drink really ice cold beer, watch the sunset listening to live music with a view of the lake and cool breezes blowing in on you. Great drive, too with a view of the city and rolling hills. This place is a secret!Pros + swim-suit friendly, ice cold beer, the Border BurgerCons – bathrooms, boat-envy
I have been an Austinite for nearly 25 years and recently relocted to north Austin. A few weeks ago, in need of a margarita and a relaxing evening I was advised by a friend to revisit the Oasis(since I hadn’t in about 6 years). I was amazed at the job they did rebuilding after the fire and the size of the new building. Not only that, but the girls at the front desk were beaming and eager to tell me all about the new bulding and the owner’s future plans for a shopping center on the property. My waitress(I believe her name was Clair) was prompt and friendly and very knowledgable about the menu. Her suggestions turned out to be big crowd pleasers. The food was much better than I remembered! The queso, mango tilapia, and beef fajitas were a big hit. Overall, I was greatly impressed with the service, the food, and of course the view…from start to finish!Pros + Exellent Queso, Sweet Staff, and Amazing View!Cons – Not much spice to the “spicy” dishes
We went on a Friday night and the food was good. It took less than 30 minutes to get our food, and only a few minutes to get drinks. The patio was too cold for us so we ate inside, but the cigarette smoke was thick. Warning to non-smokers, go only when it is warm and you can be outside in the fresh air.
You can always tell what makes a great restaurant when you look to see where the owner is.. In Johnny Fin’s case, he is right in the thick of it. From serving food to being a social host, Johnny does it all and makes sure everyone is having a good time.I like the cheesesteak, simple and always a tummy filler. The drinks are alway great and cold. The burgers are good as well. To finish, I recommend the warm brownie and ice cream, always a pleaser.Having dinner on the patio in the cool fall nights and watching a band, well, it doesn’t get any better. Its a fabulous place to experience the lake lifestyle.Critical points: sometimes at lunch they are understaffed. The crew still works hard but they could use the help.
