Where is the Best View in Portland, Oregon?
Wow – a wine bar without attitude and that has a beautiful view, good food and a great selection of wines. Albeit they focus on Pacific Northwest wines, not something I usually gravitate toward – but their selection is delicious and the staff knows how to point you to what you will like. For the adventirous – they also have…
I’ve lived in Lake Oswego for 35 years and while Portland has tons of options to choose from for knowledgable diners, we have had very few here. I had been to Five Spice a couple times before, but not since the latest change in management and menu. Frankly, I think the Pan Asian theme was better than the current more mainstream approach.I took my wife and mother there last night (a Saturday). We were greeted downstairs at the door as I dropped my passengers off by the hostess. The restaurant is still beautiful inside, and the bar has been given increased importance, although the multitude of large format wine bottles setting around seemed an overt attempt to impress. The place is well-staffed in numbers, though we seemed to get the junior waitperson, who was pretty tenuous. He managed to break off the cork on the bottle of ’96 Rhone wine I had brought from my cellar. Still, service was pretty attentive. The wine list is fairly extensive, with a $35 – 2,000 range, though not va
The location was superb, near many things in downtown Portland area. Museums were just up the hill. The hotel staff was excellent, pleasant and accommodating. The room was very nice with view of the river. This hotel made me feel relaxed: The lobby was lovely and pleasant. The staff was responsive. They had lovely restaurant and bar in the lobby, near many things. We could even walk to Powell’s bookstore.
I’ve been there twice and the first time i had a great expierance. I went with my husband during happy hour and ordered the onion rings and the chicken sandwich. They were big portions and they were only 3 dollars each! They were very tasty too. The restaurant is in a beautiful location with a fabulous view of the river. There is a patio outside which is great on sunny days. The decor inside is chic and attractive as well as most people that dine there. I did not have any problems with the service either, that is, the 1st time i went. The second time i went was in July in 2006. I took a friend from Cali that was visiting and i was so embarrased! We went to the bar and had the absoulute worst service ever! We ordered our drinks at the bar which took forever to be served and then we were never approached after that. We waited and waited. None of the bar tenders acknowledged us what so ever or even tried making eye contact with us.We were so disgusted and after waiting for
The building is very beautiful and very unique inside! as soon as you enter the bright purple roofed building your welcomed with oversize chairs and a large chandeleer! the staff is very friendly and offer fast service. There is a street car right in the middle of the resturaunt were you can dine and some of the booths are made from bed frames! and the architecture inside is reall something! The menu is rather limited, i did have the mizithra and brown buttered pasta, it was good… kinda dry/bland, something i would never order again. However my boyfriend had the meatlovers lasagna and loved it, seeing how it was toppeled with sausage and ground beef and took over half his plate! we also hade the Sicilian cheesy garlic bread and we could both agree that was veryyy good! The meals come with salad/soup, bread and a scoop of ice cream for dessert ( spumoni, sherbert, vanilla) Overall the place was fun and service was fast, and although we really loved that aspect would prolly never retur
