For starters I want to react to the review Bad pho and bun bo hue1 Star Rating: Not Recommended12/24/2008 Posted by chefjohn212I am not a specialist but this person has only reviewed places where Mr. “Bao” Huynh has worked and only says good things about the places that he is still with. Does that seem strange to anyone?? The review only mentions that this place is bad and his new spot is around the corner, ah do think he wrote it himself???I am new to reviewing but I want to be fair to the restaurant. I ate there yesterday after reading the reviews so I could see for myself. The pho was very flavorful with hints of star anise and cinnamon served with fresh bean sprouts and thai basil. I had the spring rolls crisp and delicious. My friend had the jicama rolls and they are a fantastic version of the summer roll, crisp jicama with dried shrimp and lop chueng(chinese sausage), yes I asked the waiter the name. My friend also had Salt and pepper Shrimp, she said it was perf

Normally I order from Saigon Grill, but they’ve been under renovation for the past few months, so I decided to take a chance and ordered from this place. Delivery I thought was a bit slow, and when the delivery came, after I paid the guy and left a average tip, he just took the money and counted again in front of me, and said that the tip is a joke and I should give more. I thought 10% tip for delivery person, a slow one at that, was not too bad. Anyway, he complained more, then left in anger and said some stuff in Chinese as he walked out. The food was just average. The chicken sate entree tasted more like take-out stirfry chicken; the grilled shrimp was better, but still quite bland in flavor. I think I’ll just order a pizza next time and save myself the grief of having to deal with the delivery guy.Pros + Vietnamese food deliveryCons – impolite delivery

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in New York City. The pho is great and you can have it so many ways. The “deep, star-anise perfume” mentioned in the editorial article… This person is definately not from Vietnam and knows nothing about real Pho. The service is great (the waiters remember my “usual” order and that I like my bean sprouts blanched). My favorite appetizers include the grilled beef “bun hoi” or rice noodle wrap and the grilled pork topped on prawn chips. The grilled shrimp with cold rice noodles is also good and of course the grilled pork chop over rice is delicious. You will not believe your check when you finish your meal. Great prices with large portions is what makes this place the restaurant I go to at least once a week.Pros + inexpensive, great food, great serviceCons – decor
