Where is the Best Vietnamese Food in New York, New York?
i sat at the bar, waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. 15 minutes after i ordered, and still no drink. by this time, my friends arrived and we were seated — so i saved the $12 for my would-be cocktail. once at the table, the waitstaff mixed up the appetizer, entree AND after-dinner drink. above average food, and the portions were almost family-style sized. if only they could get the service together…Pros + portion sizeCons – service staff
On the weekend, we skip typical Chinese restaurants in China town because its so packed with tourists. Instead we walk to the Doyer street and head to the basement of one of the buildings. They serve very decent Vietnamese for excellent price. I like Rice noodle soup with thin sliced beef (winter time favorite), over rice dish (all of them are good), and finish by dark Vietnamese coffee.Pros + Rice noodle soup, coffee, $Cons – ambience is not for 1st date
From the street, Bia Garden is easy to miss and just looks like any other take-out place. However, a trip inside reveals a lush (if slightly cramped) patio. Our party of four found it perfect for a fun late-night dinner and we all split several small plates. Pork belly is a definite must. Everything we tried was very good. The beer selections were great as well. I was pleased to find that Bia Garden lives up to Bao’s reputation for consistency.
