The place was packed w/ Vietnamese customers…which is usually a good sign. The cha gio (fried spring rolls) were great! They were larger than usual and came with a generous heap of lettuce, mint, basil, cucumber, bean sprouts and even shiso. The pho broth was very tasty! The service was great. I ordered the rice cake with pork for the first time and was not sure how to eat it. The older gentleman who might have been the owner, must’ve noticed and stopped by the table to show me how it’s usually eaten. One last thing…these people are really nice and honest…I forgot my purse there and when I went back the next morning to get it, it was still there and they ‘d wrapped it up in a package and set it aside for me.Pros + authentic, fast service, great pricesCons – a bit crowded

This was my first time to ever try pho, and even though I don’t have anything to really compare it to. I thought this place was great. They are definitely Pho-focused, so I wouldn’t go looking for ambience or anything like that, but if you’re just looking for some good pho, then this is definitely the place. The staff was really nice, and the food was ready super quick. They also branch out from the traditional beef noodle and have a really good seafood pho that one of my friends tried, as well as chicken and tofu and pretty much anything else you could put in noodles and broth. In any case if you’re looking for a good steaming pho, this is the place.

Having lived in Eagle Rock for about 30 years, I’m overjoyed that business owners and chefs are finding our little corner of the city. Eagle Rock has always had Casa Bianca…but variety hasn’t been our culinary highpoint. All of that is changing…THANKFULLY. Blue Hen (although open for almost 2 years) is a new discovery for me. I have to admit that it’s location in my dry cleaner’s strip mall was a little off-putting. However, the other night my husband and I sucked it up and stopped in for dinner. Before we even decided to stop, I warned my husband (the definition of a “Meat & Potatoes Man”) that Blue Hen was known for it’s vegetarian bent. However, he was curious and we decided to try something new. I’m glad we did. We shared an order of Imperial Rolls. They were crunchy and flavorful…made better by the dipping sauce. I thought my husband would go for the curry chicken, but he chose the chicken sandwich with turmeric fries. He surprised me by raving over the carrot/r

Crustacean makes you wait for a reservation, but I promise you that wait it well worth it! I had family visiting from the east coast and wanted to take them out for a memorable meal. The restaurant has exquisite Vietnamese cuisine, and my grandma literally died over the coconut shrimp. My meal was amazing too, but it was the TYku cocktail the waiter suggested that pushed my experience over the edge!If it didn’t take so long to secure a reservation we would have gone back every night they were in town! Pros + to die for shrimp!Cons – hard to get a reservation
