This coming March will mark our third year getaway to the Graves for a Girl’s Getaway Weekend. We could care less about the modern decor or the happening nightclub. We go purely for the bed and the room. The room is completely soundproof so no noise from the nightclub downstairs, the room next door, or the hallway. Complete tranquility. The bed is the most amazing experience and we can’t begin to describe it. It’s like sleeping on a cloud. The minute we walk into the room, we jump on the beds and enjoy the luxury. It brings a smile to our face. The TV’s are amazing. The colors and lighting in the rooms are very calming and serene. All in all, it is the best place to recoup after a day of shopping and exploring the city.
Barley John’s is interesting in beer and food. The outdoor area is a fun place to sit in the summers and whatnot. For that we love the place. The only downfall is that the service, while very friendly, can be slow and ditzy. It’s a very small place and even if you’re one of the few people in the restaurant expect your service to be very slow and expect that they will forget things like the glass of water you requested. They are not at all attentive to their customers who are not at the bar unfortunately. But none of it has ever been in bad spirit. The time to talk and the food and wine keep us coming back when we have the time to sit. But skip it if you’re in a hurry. Oh – and Great pizza! Gourmet pizza officiandos will love their pie!Pros + Great food, Great beer, Great wineCons – Flaky servers
My husband and I have been going to Birchwood for a few years. We have never been disappointed..their food is incredibly fresh with a menu that changes frequently. We usually check their website before we go to see what’s on the menu. They have an awesome pizza nite on Saturdays and a decent selection of organic wines, microbrews, etc. Awesome veggie burgers and excellent fresh salad selections. Everything from pasta salads to mixed greens. The salad sampler is always fantastic!Pros + Food is fresh and well done. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.Cons – Had quiche a little later into the brunch hours and it was re-heated and rubbery. Go early is you’re hitting breakfast/brunch.
my boyfriend and i went to this bar for the first time once we both turned twenty-one and were very happily surprised to see a wide variety of vegan all american food. for those that miss chicago dogs and mac n cheese, both are fantastic! try the bbq vegan po boy sandwich too with the vegan nacho cheese. it’s my boyfriend’s favorite thing on the menu. i’m very partial to the chicago dog though and they have a deal for 7$ where you can get a pint and a hot dog (with fries!)! very good. i love this bar. vegan white russians!! stff can be moody, but it’s all a part of the atmosphere
