Where is the Best Used Bookstore in Seattle, Washington?
At last, a book store where I can’t reach the highest shelf (and I’m over 6 feet tall). The is crammed with towering shelves of musty used books on every subject imaginable, full of near priceless rarities and yesterdays pulp alike, and everywhere not occupied by shelves is consumed with stacks upon stacks of more Books! The most comprehensive stock of used books (easily twice the variety of any other U-District used bookseller) and with a staff that knows its stock (something uncommon in Seattle used book stores.) Since the tragic loss of Shories, this is where I now turn to get my books if they aren’t at the U. Bookstore. If I were to invent the quintessential used bookstore in my mind, it would differ little from the quirky and classic Magus.
Seattle History buffs this is the place to get those hard to find and out of print books – right next to the latest stuff! We also spent a great deal of time going through their extensive collection of cookbooks (LOTS of local fare specialty books!) and their craft section. The service was excellent – they really know their stuff. We’ll definitely become regulars here. (Oh! They also offer a frequent shopper discount… how cool is that?)
The university book store is one of my favorite seattle books stores. Not only do they have good prices and wide selection of textbooks, their selection of other books is hugely extensive. It’s a really nice, relaxing atmosphere (except during the beginning and end of UW quarters). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, they have really good special events. The husky shop is pretty cool and the people in the media center are helpful. Overall, it’s a really great bookstore.Pros + Great selection, great staffCons – parking is a little annoying
I was recently visiting the Greenwood area after searching for bookstores in this engine.I came across Balderdash Books & Art! When I went in, I felt very comfortable. Most used bookstores I frequent smell and the person working there usually seems in a bad mood and gets annoyed if you ask them anything. The owner was so nice and helpful I was blown away! She recommend some great books and there is a credit program so I can bring old ones to trade in.Great Store!! I will return again!Pros + Great customer servic, easy parking, lots of resturantsCons – none
