Where is the Best Upscale Casual Dining in New Orleans, Louisiana?
I started going to La Petite Grocery with girlfriends for the happy hour. The atmosphere is casual yet intimate and the crowd has never been too stuffy plus, 50 cent martinis is an amazing deal! Then I went to dinner there with my parents and we had a really great meal. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was phenomenal! It really caught me off guard because the menu is filled with so many posh dishes, I was pleasantly surprised when the cheeseburger turned out to be unique and delicious! I honestly think the cheeseburger is better than Port of Call?s. Another favorite of mine is the cheese plate. The cheese selection is diverse and the dish is light but still filling. I have been there several other times for drinks or dinner and have never been disappointed.Pros + Great food and serviceCons – it can get a little noisy at times
this was our first visit back to NOLA in way too long, friends of ours that live in the Garden District took us there as it’s one of their faves. Now I know why- everything, including the french fries (?) was great!Pork Belly? OMG- to die for, and we’re from NC, hog capital of the world. Desserts were fabulous, the waiter was great. I love this city and all it’s food. Herbsaint did not disappoint!!Thank you~
My husband and I came here for lunch one day and enjoyed it so much that we came back for dinner a few weeks later. The lunch menu is tapas only, but that’s really all you need for lunch. With the exception of one little drink ordering mishap (the server forgot my drink – all the better b/c my aftrenoon at work got really busy), the lunch was perfect. As to our dinner experience, it was SUPERB! The bubbling hot manchego cheese was to die for. My fish entree was fresh and delicious, and the seafood stew that my husband ordered was also wonderful. The wine list was great as well. The service at dinner was also perfect – the recommendations made by the server were honest and helpful. Tonight, we are off to try their sister restaurant, La Boca!Pros + very high quality and delicious food + lovely setting
If you’re looking for a Michelin star studded affair this restaurant is not for you. Built on a renovated character house in uptown New Orleans, this restaurant delivers homestead charm with 4-star substance. More importantly, they do this at very reasonable prices. On our post Mardi Gras venture, none of the main entrees were over $24.Their closed patio waiting area delivers a unique and relaxed experience to mingle with other patrons and enjoy a sampling or a bottle from their concise but smartly chosen wine list. Their main dinner room exudes cheerful ambiance best suited for small group of friends or maybe even the notorious double date. There are a couple of tables off to the side that offer a more intimate setting, but I wouldn’t classify this establishment as a candlelight type place.
