We were guests so didn’t have to pay the premium prices. The smallest steak was the 8 oz. filet mignon which I ordered. It came with with either bean soup or tomato juice (yes, plain old tomato juice!) choice of potato and basket of rolls. Salad was ala carte. The famous shrimp cocktail which we shared was $14.99 for 5…

Husband’s birthday. Can’t spend a fortune on dinner but he LOVES prime rib, shrimp cocktail, etc. Decided to buy a prime rib that is literally “platter sized” and thrill my hubby. More food than one human can devour in one sitting but always cooked perfectly, always delicious. Yes, they are very busy as the word continues to accelerate more growth, but, worth the wait I assure you. So, happy couple. I have some $$ left over for a nicer gift AND provide hubby with an outstanding evening with friends and nice big prime rib dinner. Thanks Bynum’s!! Pros + Huge portions. Welcomes “sharing” meals for minimal cost. Home-like atmosphere.Cons – Sometimes too busy to handle amount of customers, so make reservations.

The food isn’t world class — or even Indy class (though large portions), and pricey, and the drinks probably the most expensive downtown ($4 for domestic bottled beer, $5+ for imports and not a large selection). The Rock Bottom across the street, and Ram down the street, have better food and less expensive drinks. But why do I keep going to Champps? The service is the best! I happened onto Champps last year to watch football, won a $50 gift certificate in a contest and spent it. My server was soooo nice, and seemed to be interested in me. I got $35 worth of food and drinks and tipped her the rest of the $50 certificate. She told me that was one of the best percentage tips she ever received and told me to come back. I did the next week, ran a $30 tab and tipped $20. I kept going back, and after about the 5th time we exchanged phone numbers and we became each other’s best friend. So if you go to Champps ask for Meghan to serve you and be sure to tip her well.Pros + Service,
