Where is the Best Trendy Scene in San Francisco, California?

Fresh sushi, in a super hip, trendy and cool environment. Japanese cartoonish art on the walls, and great music fill the room. The sushi is all great and yummy though there is no one roll that I have to have at any moment. Bento boxes are reasonably priced, and they have a huge drink menu (longer than the food menu)……Oh and happy hours and the bar area at nights are always super packed.Parking in the area is horrible though FYI, so wear flats to walk far, or cab it or something.

I just want to give a shout out to Ms. Jona, the Asst. Mgr. & all her helpful staff at Sugar for letting use their beautiful bar last night as a venue for an organization I belong to. Everyone, loved the look & feel & just overall sleekness of the place. Besides, that you get beyond the sleekness and at the same time you feel welcomed there…we all had a blast last night & again, thanks to Jona & her excellent staff they made the night even smoother & successful for our big group b/c they were so helpful & accomodating throughout the night. I was told the drinks were pretty dang great too…even though I was trying to keep my wits about me as the coordinator just drinking bottled water throughout the night. Also, big pluses for the huge movie screen playing movies at night inside & OUTSIDE the establishment…the neat-O factor is high on that one…

Good food, friendly service, and a nice San Francisco night made for a perfect dinner at Blue Plate. We didn’t order any appetizers b/c we wanted to try their Banana Cream Pie which was raved about and it deserves all the praise. Two entrees definitely stood out: cavatelli with ratatouille and chicken with summer fruit. I had the meatloaf and although it was okay, I don’t like barbecue sauce and it was mixed into the meatloaf; took away the flavor of the meat. We made reservations ( a must, especially friday and saturday) and were seated at the front of the restaurant right in front of the open kithcen. it was nice to watch the chefs prepare food but it was a high traffic area. I would recommend requesting a seat in the back dining hall or the outdoor patio. They have heat lamps at each table, and a large wall that breaks the wind so don’t worry about being cold. This is a great casual dining spot in the mission. Would recommnend this restaurant and will definitely go bac

The sushi was really fresh and really good (for the little that we had). The presentation was equally as pleasing. Unfortunately for this place, I have no tolerance for poor service. We had reservations and were seated immediately. It took a half hour for our drinks to arrive. We ordered an appetizer and the first of our main courses. They arrived at the same time(?) and by that time our drinks were empty. Our server didn’t check on us for another half hour and it was not busy. She was horrible! Maybe her cat died earlier in the day?? By the time we finally got her attention we had to ask for the check and get out of there before our heads exploded. Too trendy for my taste as well. I don’t recommend this place.

Picked this place for solo Saturday brunch based on the “free doughnut holes” enticement. The holes were excellent — tasty and hot — but two’s all you get. If you want more than two, you pay. (Groan.) My ham/chorizo/egg scramble was delicious, and so were the polenta fries that came with it. Portion size was decent. Coffee was above average but it’s all French Press, and you pay by the cup. Note to management: Brunch without free refills on coffee is annoying. Got a bloody mary. Lots of stuff in there, including a whole celery stalk, a pickled green bean, several cocktail onions, and a lemon wedge. Showy but tasty. Service was friendly. The place was 85% empty when I arrived at 1:00, and the floor smelled very heavily of cleaning fluid. I’ll probably go back. But I think I’ll try a few other places first, as I’m pretty new to SF and wasn’t bowled over.Pros + tasty brunch fareCons – no coffee refills, “free” doughnut holes limited to 2.
