Where is the Best Thai Food in Providence, Rhode Island?
Fantastic takeout. Lacks sufficient seating – but it is worth the wait to eat the food there. I was staying at a nearby hotel and took my meal to go – had pad thai and shrimp appetizer and it was extremely good. Tucked away in the Brown University area, and quite easy to miss. Set the address in the GPS and hope for on street parking outside – another slight drawback. I went to Pakarang with an out-of-town acquaintance who doesn’t get Thai very often. Pakarang had been highly recommended by one of my co-workers so I was hoping for the best. I’m happy to report that they did not disappoint. We had Chicken & Basil, Shrimp pad thai, and coconut soup – all very fresh tasting and certainly some of the best I’ve had in the many cities I’ve lived. My companion was extremely pleased and indicated he is rather picky about Thai and this easily was some of the best he’s had also. Service was pleasant and efficient with good menu recommendations and our water was kept filled, which I feel is a good hallmark of attentive service. Decor is a bit funky but not tacky – more of a urban loft feel with lots of exposed brick. Overall, two thumbs up!
