Where is the Best Thai Food in Austin, Texas?

We’ve eaten at every Thai restaurant in Austin, as well as having eaten at a fair number of Thai places in San Francisco and Seattle. In terms of the tastiness of the food, Thai Kitchen knocks our socks off. The food is simply wonderful. They are known for their hot and spicy menu items, but we’ve found that the really delicious items are the more tame ones. The chef possesses an extraordinarily deft touch with spices. He also cooks the vegetables and meats (tofu included) to perfection. This is very unusual. For example, the broccoli is always (and I mean always) tender-crisp, like broccoli should be. I’ve had the broccoli there (in various dishes) 40-50 times, and it is always perfect. How great is that? The food is so good that we cannot seem to go more than two weeks without paying it a visit. Although we are not vegetarians, we have gradually moved over to the vegetarian side of the menu because the over-30 vegetarian options are really quite delicious. For some inex

This quaint restaurant started its existence in a trailer next to the old Bergstrom Air Force Base 30+ years ago. It moved to its present location in Garfield (under the water tower) 20+ years ago and is still being run by the original owners, a retired military man and his Thai wife. They are very pleasant people, and they do all of the work. Her dishes seem quite authentic and they are eager to please. Her Yum Nua is the best I’ve found.

We generally have a good dining experience at Madam Mam’s. A lot of times the food is awesome, but sometimes it’s only okay. That’s why I’m giving the 3 stars, because I think the food is worth a visit. However I’m writing this review because as far as I’m concerned a bad waitress has now stolen money from me, and I feel that deserves public comment. The last time we went we had the worst wait staff ever. (Westgate location) I tried to flag down our waitress 3 times. We wanted to order dessert, but we were also out of beverages and with spicy food that’s a no-no. I finally tried chasing her down only to have her disappear into the kitchen and not come out until someone else went to fetch her for me.We were so irritated with the lack of service that we did not tip. We wrote 0 on the receipt and the total amount equal to the amount of the bill for the two of us. I was just balancing my check book and I see that she gave herself a $2 tip anyway. We will be going in to complain, and I’

My favorite Thai place. Sometimes the service can be h i t or m i s s – but the food never is. I have always loved every single thing I have ordered here (although they have been out of things on the menu on more than one occasion). And the lime-chili sauce is to die for!Pros + Consistent YUMMY food.Cons – Service isn’t always so consistent.

I will definitely return here. The service was attentive and courteous, and the food was great. We had the chicken sate, chicken fried rice, and pad thai. Especially good were the peanut and cucumber sauces with the sate, and the best pad thai i’ve had in austin. For ambience, keep in mind it is in a strip mall.
