Where is the Best Tattoo in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
I have been a customer of St. Sabrina’s for several years now. I’ve had a couple of piercings done there, but most of my experience has been with tattoos. I have had work done by Jeremy, Bleach and Mike and I have been very happy with all my tattoos, whether they have been small and simple or larger and more-involved pieces.In reading some other reviews, I’m surprised to hear of complaints about the customer service. Any time I’ve gone in (and it’s been quite a few), whoever has been working the counter has helped me very quickly and has always been very friendly when doing it.There was one time I had to wait longer than I really would have liked, but I didn’t have an appointment and there were others already ahead of me. I have been inked by Nic at Uptown Tattoo because 98% of the work I see on other people that is STUNNING, great quality, great color, great shading comes from him. I have never heard a name in this market more spoken about and reccommended. The facility is clean, organized, good lighting, comfortable and the customber service can’t be matched (those guys are hilarious!!). I was unimpressed by Ink Lab who once told me my tattoo was too small and I would have to have it enlarged, which took me to Saint Sabrina’s which felt more like a tattoo surplus store and some random man who after tattooing me appeared to be under a mood altering substance, asked me for a ride home. Not impressed with the quality or the staff or the cleanliness. From my own and my husband and friend’s experience – if you don’t want a generic tattoo, go to Uptown Tattoo. While browsing the web, I came across a beautiful photo of a tattoo. The artist was David Dettloff who is the owner of the Ink Lab. I loved his work so much that i traveled from Pittsburgh PA to Minneapolis to have him do a cover up for me on my ankle. The outcome was and is perfection. I have wanted to have more work done but because David is the only person i will have work on me, I have been unable todo so because of geography.I thought the shop was fantastic at distracting me from the pain of the tattoo due to all the interesting things to look at and the staff was warm and friendly. I will go back again only this time I wont go in the winter and get stuck in a snowstorm again 🙂 Pros + Amazing artistryCons – none
My first experience at Fluid Ink was with Sara. I was looking for my first-ever tattoo, and very excited. As tattoos are permanent I was sure to check around first. I went to a number of different shops (Xoel at Grand Tattoo, St. Sabrina’s, Steady, etc) before I chose an artist. In the end, I liked Sara’s sketch best, but I did not like Sara. I looked around some more to see if I could find someone that I liked both as an artist and as a person. I didn’t have much luck, so I went back to Sarah. For a while my tattoo looked great. The details were phenominal and I was incredibly pleased. I went back to get it colored. I asked for a wash, but what I ended up with was a full color (Sara was very stubborn). Soon the details began to fade, no matter how careful I was in the sun, etc.I soon found myself wanting another tattoo, and migrated back to Fluid Ink. I originated from Harris, so as a “small town girl” I didn’t even think to get my first tattoo, a simple red rose on my shoulder, anywhere but at Happily Ever After, and done by Brian. I got it on my 18th birthday and it turned out beautifully. At 19, (2003) it was the height of the “lower back tattoo craze” and I of course HAD to get a lower back piece and did so again by Brian. It again turned out beautiful and I went back to get more added the following week. I then was formally “moved in” to my Minneapolis residence and didnt want to drive all the way “up north” to finish off my lowerback piece which I had decided just wasn’t big enough. So I went to see Pookie at Steady Tattoo in Dinkytown. I must say although he does EXCELLENT work, Pookies part on my lower back still raises up a bit when Im dehydrated, or sick or whatever. This is a result of putting the needle too deep into the skin whilst tattooing. This doesn’t happen with Brians work.. And personally I think he just has more
