Where is the Best Takeout in Portland, Oregon?
I have visited this restaurant 4 times now. The first 2 were fabulous. I tried the Rueben w/Pastrami my first time and I was very impressed. I sat at the bar counter in front of the grill and watched the cook work his magic. He was quick but very diligent. The second time I ordered the roast beef sandwich. Content again and impressed. At that point I had eaten here twice and only by myself. I was ready to really talk this place up. I visited again with a good friend and of course was bragging about how good the food was there. Service had always been sloppy and slow but the food made up for it. Anyway, my friend ordered the corn beef sandwich and I, the chicken salad. Mine was fine, potato salad is always good on the side, FYI. However, my friend’s sandwich was dry, sloppy and resembled something that would be in a packed lunch thrown together in a hurried rush to get out the front door and only to make sure you had something, anything to put in your stomach for the d
This is a Chinese restaurant whose name is Good Taste. It is in Portland?s China Town and it has a good location. Good Taste is very old in the China Town, so the building?s exterior is outdated. How did I find this restaurant? When I came here, the other international students took me to this restaurant; that was my first time to eat. Last weekend, I with other people missed our country?s food, and we went there. This restaurant sells Cantonese dishes. The Canton famous dish is roast duck, but we didn?t order it. Because a duck is so big, we couldn?t have finished it. That day we ordered the Canton style fried seafood noodle, fried beef flat-rice-noodle, mapo tofu; sauteed chili peeled beef, fermented bean curd with water spinach. It was so delicious and genuinely traditional. These dishes were plenty. We didn?t worry about that we couldn?t full up. In fact, the Good Taste didn?t have any service. The waitress only put the dishes on table, and she went away. However at the end of th
We’ve eaten at the restaurant a couple times and had take-out another half dozen times or so. Both experiences are quality and fast. Definitely the best Chinese in NW, especially when you consider the price. (You could go much higher-end at Sungari Pearl, but the food is only slightly better for 2X the cost.) General Tso’s Chicken is the highlight, green beans are crisp and spicy, and the sweet/sour chicken is excellent. Good quality meat — the chicken is never fatty or stringy like other Chinese restaurants. Sit on the patio if it’s warm. The service is friendly and attentive, but not overwhelmingly great. They’ll keep your water glass full, and that’s all that matters to me.Pros + Great food, Friendly service, Value
This is a typical chain pizza place with so-so food and steeper prices than what one would expect for the food they are serving. The place in decorated in a fun way though. Better lunch place then dinner. The salads are decent but they aren’t very healthy (just because it’s salad doesn’t mean its healthy!). I have been to a few different locations and have been less then impressed with all of them. The whole pies are mediocre and a little on the greasy side.Pros + cute decor, fast eatsCons – greasy, average pizza
