Where is the Best Tailor in Austin, Texas?
I needed an unlined cotton sundress hemmed 1-1/2 inches….I stopped by hope based on the good reviews, and the fact it’s in my neighborhood. The work seems fine (of course, a hem isn’t exactly brainsurgery) but whoa- I was blown away at the price- $30!!! For a 1-1/2 inch hem? No lining? Geez. The dress itself cost barely more than that!Maybe I’m out of touch, but that sounds extraordinarily high to me. The craftsmanship here could be extraordinary, but it won’t matter because I won’t be back after spending this much on a simple hem job.Sigh,Pros + Quick turnaroundCons – Overpriced
Cesar and his staff did a fantastic job with my bridesmaid dress. It was huge on top and ill-fitting when I received it from the store. He transformed it so it fit my perfectly. I am so happy with how everything turned out! I highly recommend their services and will take all my clothes there for alterations in the future.
I just finished writing the best and longest review ever, but AustinCitySearch had an error and lost my review forever!!! :-(Well, I rarely write reviews because I only post them for businesses that provide the best and most impressive of services.Expert Lee’s Custom Tailors very much deserve my praise and would–without a doubt–recommend them to everyone! I have expensive clothes, and I have trust issues with tailors because I’ve had disappointing experiences in the past. However, Expert Lee not only met my high standards, but also went way beyond my expectations. Their work was so great, my jaw literally dropped!I had a uniform that was too big and became irregularly shaped after washing… so I told Expert Lee what I wanted, and I gave them a very short notice (1.5 days) to do the job. I was expecting that they would charge extra for the short notice because other businesses usually take at least one week, but to my pleasant surprise they just said “okay” with a smile.W
I paid almost $100 for alterterations on a suit before a business trip. Wore the suit several days during the trip before the alterations started coming loose. One sleeve started splitting at the seam where it was shortened. The lining opened up at the sleeve where it was opened. I had to pay the hotel for an emergency mending.AAA Alterations also rents suits and tuxs. I suspect their operation is geared more towards temporary alterations and not real tailoring. It’s really a shame as the customer service was very friendly. Use at your own risk.Pros + Friendly serviceCons – Poor quality, unreliable tailoring
I have been in Austin for over 20 years and have yet to find a men’s store as exceptional as The Texas Clothier. They have impeccable customer service and even better clothing. They get to know you on a first name basis and remember everything. They go over and above on making sure that the customer is satisfied in every way possible. Dain and his daughters do everything they can to make sure you look and feel your best while still making the shopping experience very enjoyable. They have a wide verity of sports ware, suits, shoes, ties and even the newer and hipper clothes for the younger generations. If you want to feel great and look even better, The Texas Clothier is the place to go. Pros + Customer service, tailoring, selection, great quality
