Where is the Best Sushi in Providence, Rhode Island?

My friend and I went to Takara and for the first time had to order on our own. We had previously been with our daughters who made choices for us. With the help of a pleasant and knowledgeable waitstaff, we enjoyed our first sushi meal on our own and had fun doing it. The fish is fresh and tasty, and everything looks very appetizing. Other patrons will also tell you what they are eating if you ask. I wish there were friendly neighborhood restaurants like this in Randolph. We have since been back to Takara and took out once also. I would definitely recommend it for beginners and seasoned sushi eaters alike.Pros + Service, freshness, waitstaff, priceCons – none

I am literally on the fence in writing this review. In the interest of sounding positive, I?ll begin by stating Ten has the freshest sushi I have ever tried. I?ve tried other upscale sushi restaurants, but nothing comes close to Ten. Their pomegranate martini has to be the best known to woman (ok?and man). Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every item I?ve tried on the menu from New England clam chowder to the bacon wrapped steak to their decadent souffle. Now for the other side of the fence?the seating and layout of this building make it for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. There are only two decent tables: the two facing Pine Street directly in front of the windows. Even the third table in this area is no good, as it faces the inside and people congregate right on top of you as you?re eating. The rest of the tables I have [literally] been ?bumped? every time I sit in a chair in the aisle by staff and/or patrons while trying to eat.. It is the most uncomfortable fee

My wife and I went here for sushi the other day. We’re not sushi connoisseurs by any stretch of the imagination, but we thought it was good. The prices seem to be around what I’ve paid at other places, though there wasn’t as much variety as I’ve seen elsewhere. There also seemed to be an assumption that you know what everything on the menu is. Still, I ordered three different sushi rolls and liked all of them. The one thing a little odd about the restaurant is that it’s tucked away on the second floor of an office/retail complex. You can see the sign from Mineral Spring, but it was strange to have to go up some stairs and down a hall to get to the restaurant, when normally when you go to a restaurant you just walk in the door and there you are. Better internal signage would make the place feel a lot more welcoming. But don’t let that put you off, once you get inside and sit down, the food is worth the money.

I have actually never been to this restaurant, but I just wanted to expose one of the reviews below for the fake that it is: crystalline states that “… while we were awaiting our bill a cockr0ach crawled up the wall beside me. When we told the waitress she proceeded to squish it with her thumb and it’s remains fell in my water!” This scenario could never have happened for several reasons: a.) cockr0aches do not come out of hiding into a noisy lit room full of people, b.) they do not stay in one place for the time it would take to be pointed out to a waitress, c.) they scurry and would not easily be squished under a thumb, d.) if they ARE squished, their remains are pretty sticky – not likely to jump off the wall and into a glass of water. I know it seems silly to write about a restaurant at which I’ve never eaten, but when people write bogus reviews, all reviews become that much harder to take seriously.p.s. Pardon the creative spelling, but citysearch must have changed their polic

Tokyo is a decent value with tasty Japanese food. The two negative reviews of the restaurant are totally uninformed. I lived in Japan for three years, and have eaten sushi in Hawaii and California. Tokyo’s food is on a par with most Japanese restaurants on the East Coast. The reviewer is wrong who claimed that the restaurant’s yakisoba was not authentic because it contained udon noodles. Yakisoba is made with chinese style (Ramen) buckwheat noodles, the version served at Tokyo. Both negative reviews criticized the sushi, a rice dish where the rice is cooked with sushi vinegar. I have never found Tokyo’s sushi rice dry, but always flavorful. The norimaki (rolls), nigiri and temaki (handrolls) are very good sushi, and the raw fish in the shashimi and sushi I have had at Tokyo has always been fresh and prepared properly. The BYOB policy of Tokyo is also a plus.Pros + sushi quality, ambiance, value
