Where is the Best Sushi in Baltimore, Maryland?

As a newcomer to Baltimore from NYC, I was really impressed with the quality of sushi here! The variety of rolls are DELISH and the portions “just enough”. I would stick with the sushi and rolls and stay away from the mediocre entrees.

I’ve had a lot of cultural exchange with people from Japan and have visited, so I have to agree with another reviewer that it’s not authentic in that sense. And it doesn’t appear to be Japanese owned. That said, it is possible to have good large-group events there because they have 2 large tatami rooms, though you’d have to call in advance to reserve them. That’s basically what I and my group did, and we had a good time. Is this the same as central Tokyo? Not at all. Does it have the charm of the Japanese country side? Can’t say that it does. Basically I’m saying that for Columbia, Maryland it’s a lot better than the tiny places where you are going to get the same thing as what’s sold in grocery stores. The best, of course, is homestyle cooking. Which reminds me, there is a Japanse and English club in Maryland where people meet at restaurants and sometimes other locations for a potluck, etc. (japanese dot meetup dot com / 501) That may be worth investigating for more of a community ex

We go here regularly for dinner as they serve good authentic Japanese food (tempura, udon, broiled fish, etc). Service is always prompt and friendly. They serve a fantastic lunch buffet (Monday to Friday only) that is a bargain for the wide selection of sushi as well as other freshly made dishes.Pros + No lines, no waiting, good lunch buffet, good ‘bento’ boxes

I am from Seattle where good sushi and Japanese food can be easily found. I have struggled to find good Japanese restaurants in Seattle. Most places used tea bag for green tea (disgusting), their fish wasn’t as fresh as I wanted it to be, and maki didn’t have much flavor. Enter Kawasaki’s. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and atmosphere is nice. Everything from sashimi and sushi to zaru soba and mochi were fresh and flavorful. Easily the best Japanese food I ever had in Baltimore. My friends and I really enjoyed the food. You can tell from the color and smell of the tea that the owner took his time to buy high end flavorful green tea to compliment his food. The only thing is you have to find street parking, but on weekends street parking resctrictions don’t apply. Other than parking situation I loved everything about this place.

Let me say, this is the most trendy, most hip, and upscale everything restaurant that I have ever encountered. I was looking for utopia and found it at XS. From breakfast to sushi to dessert to espresso. You will find everything here. Is it a bar? Is it a resaturant? Is it vegeterian? Is it intenational? Is it American? To answer: it is everything!! It is a hot spot to grab some friends after a movie or a show or just because. It’s a place with good service, good ambiance and great food. Who could want more? Not me because I’ve found the spot to be.Pros + Trendy & Chic, Inexpensive, Variety of food
