Where is the Best Sushi in Austin, Texas?

I was taken here several months ago by a friend that wanted to try it for his birthday. We had a great time and the food was awesome. I took some friends from out of town last week and, although the food was still great, the experience was less enjoyable because the sushi chefs (one in particular) were drunk. The one I’m referring to was so drunk that he kept shaking his head, as if to try and focus. We ordered a sushi bomb, specifically because it was served with fresh wasabi, which I had only had once (the last time I was there) and my friends had not had at all. We thought it would be a treat. Our chef, the drunkard, decided it would be funny to put “extra” wasabi on the order.I didn’t realize it, but one of my friends noticed him watching her as she went to eat a piece and giggled when she put it her mouth. She didn’t say anything to be about it until after we had left the restaurant, otherwise, I would have had to ask to speak to the manager. It’s sad when a great produc

i sat at the sushi bar and had briana as my server. she seemed to have great knowledge of the menu and right off the bat brought up the specials. my date and i ordered a bottle of sake and basically left our sushi up to alan our sushi chef.he started us with torched escolar which was fabulous and then a few off menu items such as yellow tail with some kind of an orange sauce and goat cheese.the kitchen food was also fabulous. it was happy hour so we got some calamari and pot stickers for only 5 dollars each. the pot stickers had some cherries with it which was awesome.my favorite app was the blue crab cake. it had a puree with a curry taste to it as well as some green sauce. not sure what that was but it was great.all in all everything was great. the manager even came up to ask us how everything was. i highly recommend this place. sitting at the sushi bar was a great time. the sushi chefs were drinking with us and all in all it was a full atmosphere.Pros + fresh fish, grea

I have been to Sushi Japon a few times for an after-work snack at the sushi bar and always found the atmosphere pleasant and the service very nice. The sushi chef is always the same guy and is nice to talk to, along with the servers. Tonight I went with a date and again it was an excellent experience. We started with some Edamame and the excellent Gyu Tataki appetizer, which is thin slices of seared (rare) beef served in a delicious ponzu sauce. Sort of like steak sashimi – it was great! We got a bottle of cold sake since they actually have a good selection at the bar. The server was knowledgeable about the selections and recommended a bottle, which was from California and was good enough. For sushi, we tried the Kevin’s Special Roll – asparagus tempura and masago inside, topped with lightly seared tuna, lemon zest, and spicy sauce. This is an excellent roll, one of the best in town. We tried several kinds of nigiri sushi including Sake Toro, Unagi, Toro, Anago, and Hamachi Tor

I feel like I need to address a couple of reviews first…DiamondSkyy: 1.) There’s no squid in the seaweed salad, you won’t find it with anywhere else. 2.) You’re not looking to eat authentic sushi if you want eel sauce for everything. 3.) Most sushi restaurants in America aren’t that authentic if they serve California Roll…much less something like the Longhorn. 4.) If you were there for happy hour, that’s their way of letting you know time’s about to be up. It’s not that they want you to leave.tsangth: They’re very strict about their happy hour prices; it’s written ON THE MENU. Read it. They also refuse to sit people during happy hour if it’s an incomplete party. I’ve been there many times with big groups and we’ve never had bad service aside from the one rude waiter. The general complaint about slow service–most, if not all, sushi restaurants I’ve visited are really slow. I’ve been eating sushi my entire life. Sushi takes awhile to prepare; try making it yourself. If you’re l

Some friends and I found this place earlier this year and have been a bunch of times since. The food is great and so reasonably priced. However on our last visit our server, who seemed very young and very inexperienced, may have changed my mind about Beluga. Even in ordering the simplest menu items, she got them wrong and it took forever, not to mention the length of time to get drinks! The manager tried to step in but he wasn’t much help either. The place was not busy- there were only three other tables while we were there! We’ll think twice about going there again due to the service, but as always- hats off to the sushi chefs! The food is fantastic.Pros + Great food. Great pricesCons – Certain servers are awful!
