Where is the Best Sushi in Austin, Texas?
The cuisine (notice I did not say food) was exquisite. My only issue with out visit was the service. I was having a bad day, so I certainly will not hold it against them. With only three tables present when we arrived, our greet time was a little long. Our appetizer arrived with our entree which annoyed me and the high-ball glasses jammed packed full of ice did not leave much room for iced tea. However, I said I was cranky that evening so ignore that part. The great part was the crisp tasty Gyoza (dumplings). We chose pork for our filling. They were crispy on the outside and filled with yummy stuff on the inside. I had the Tofu Pad Thai. It was a little spicy, which I like. The tofu was a little chewy, but the flavors were awesome. My dinner partner had the red curry chicken. It could have used a little more kick, but every Thai place is different and you are always cautious about ordering too hot. We did not have room to try the sushi, but it looked great and reasonably
I have not had a bad meal here and have been dining here regularly, at least once/month, since about 2001.They do need to be a bit more flexible with regard to seating policy, however, there have been times when I arranged to meet friends there when it was not at all busy– many, many empty tables- yet they refused to seat us until all were present. I can understand that at peak times, but not when the place is practically empty.Pros + see headlineCons – seating policy
Well, I’ve never been to DK’s on a karaoke night, so I can’t comment on that. However, I have been there several times with close friends, and enjoyed the experience immensely. In fact, it was the first place I ever tried sushi, and since then, I haven’t had sushi that is better. I found the staff to be very courteous, the food arrived in a timely manner, and the one time it didn’t, the chef offered us free edamame while we waited. The place is quiet and intimate on a non-karaoke night. You can choose to take your shoes off and sit in traditional style in a screened room on the floor, with a pit under the table to put your feet, so it’s very comfortable, or you can sit at a regular table or booth, or at the sushi bar. We’ve never been overcharged on our bill, and as I said, the sushi is excellent ! We ordered numerous varieties, and each one was a treat. I am particularly fond of the dragon rolls, and one other that I can’t name here because I tried and I got censored! LOL!
