Where is the Best Steak in St. Louis, Missouri?
After reading some of these reviews we were hesitant to keep our reservation but are certainly glad we did!We have eaten in some of the best restaurants in New York, Philadelphia, Florida, Maryland, Atlanta and even many places in Europe and China and absolutely enjoyed our experience at Tony’s in every way.We arrived as a baseball game was getting ready to begin and were prepared to pay as much as twenty dollars for valet parking only to find it was complimentary!Then upon entering we were directed to the living room/bar area as our table was not quite ready. Though we decided not to order drinks at this time the friendly, smiling bartender brought us some ice water and nuts for our comfort. A lovely start to our evening.After a small wait we were escorted into the dining room where every part of our meal was a culinary delight. For the many who will surely making their first-time visit Kreis’ Restaurant, please remember that Kreis’ is as much or more an honorable and frequently-visited “exclusive private club” than it is a “public facility.” Those of us who have spent most of our lives living in or near Clayton, Ladue, Frontenac, Creve Coeur & Huntleigh have long, long known and relied upon Kreis’ George, Pat, Demetri, et al., to consistently deliver great drinks, fine food, superb service! Take my personal, selfish advice (which I copy from Yoggi Berra): “Nobody goes there, it’s too crowded!?.So now to my experienced, educated opinion: Despite that not one item on the Kreis’ menu is ?spectacular,? everything offered and delivered at Kreis? is better than great! Why else, one might ask, would we all keep returning?
I visited Andria’s for the 1st time last year & if you go I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. If you’re goin on a Saturday night I would recommend gettin there early cause they don’t take reservations on Saturdays & it is always crowded on Saturdays (of course). Anyway, the restaraunt is very charming & the staff are friendly (which you can’t take for granted nowadays) & the steaks are in the close to perfect category. The sauce they use to grill the steaks is not overbearing & compliments the flavor of the steak nicely. My strip was cooked exactly as ordered. The house salad dressing was very nice & an extra large Idaho spud wrapped in plain brown paper was a perfect companion for this great steak. My wife’s fillet was also cooked exactly as she ordered it & was a very nice cut of meat. There are some good steak houses in (St. Louis) & I’ve tried alot of them, but Andria’s is worth trekkin into to Illinois & is not hard to find. The atomosphere is nice for the dating crowd out there
My husband and I read this was to be one of the most romantic restaraunts in St. Louis, I did not find it romantic. However, the excellent service made up for it! We decided to have a cocktail at the bar before dinner and were treated like we didn’t belong by the bartender. She talked down to us with the few words she did share. Fortunately, our server Suzanne (city search isn’t letting me use her shortened name) made up for the horrible first impression. She had outstanding knowledge of the menu and treated us like we were regulars. She made an excellent reccommendation for the lobster turnovers! The Tuscan Sea Bass was outstanding as well! I would reccommend this restaraunt, but not if you’re looking for an after dinner drink at the bar and the lack of personality behind it.Pros + Interesting menu options!
