Spent Christmas with a friend in Phoenix. In lieu of gifts, we usually enjoy a good meal and good friendship – one of life’s best gifts.Had Christmas Eve dinner at Morton’s and as is true with other Morton’s around the country, the Phoenix outlet didn’t disappoint. Filets were thick, juicy and perfectly cooked. Split sides and the tomato and mozzerella salad. All salads and sides are big enough for two. The wine list is expansive and nicely varied – prices are as well.Clubby and warm, the ambience at the Phoenix restaurant is just as welcome as the other Morton’s. Service is friendly, funny and knowledgeable. My friend and I always skip dessert and have a Key Lime Martini instead. Yummmmm. Wow! What a great recommendation! A colleague and I visited Roaring Fork on a concierge’s recommendation. It was a fantastic meal. We arrived at the time of our reservation, and we were seated promptly. Service was friendly, professional, and efficient.The food was excellent. We are both food buffs, and good cooks, so we judge restaurants very critically. We started with soups – black bean, and chicken tortilla. Both were presented well, and tasted great. While the black bean could use a bit more heat, that was easily rectified with a bit of Tabasco Chipotle. The chicken tortilla was near perfect.We then ordered two braises: beef short ribs, and lamb shank. Both of these are difficult to do well, as many restaurants will overcook them, resulting in meat that falls into mush. However, both dishes were cooked to perfection – tender, fall from the bone meat, but still with enough chew to hold together. They were both incredibly flavorful. The sauces were excellent accom

First of all I have traveled all across the country and I have only found one better steakhouse (Charley’s, Orlando Fl). Every trip back to Phoenix I go to Mastros and it is always the same (impeccable), which is rarely the case with most other establishments. Far better than Durants, Mortons, Ruth Chris, or Donovans. The Ribeye is not the best steak in the joint first of all so if your a ribeye fan be warned. The bone in Fillet is great, as is the Strip and the porterhouse. The sides are always great and the atomic horseradish is worth the trip alone. The original Pinnacle Peak location is still better than the Goldwater location; the staff is not as astute at the newer location.Pros + Best Steak in Town PERIODCons – Still going to cost $250 for a couple with Tip.

They have an excellent selection of appetizers which is my favorite part of their menu. The service is good and the main course are well prepared. While the main courses are good, they are rarely very good or excellent. Perhaps I am getting spoiled by many of the newer stylish restaurants and menus.
