Where is the Best Steak in New York, New York?
My boyfriend and I went for our very first time and we were very pleased. We started off with a few slices of bacon and a sliced tomato. I’m not one to balk at the price of food when it’s truly delicious, but I’m still not sure why a tomato was $13. It was flawless looking, yes, but it didn’t have a wonderful flavor and it was JUST tomato. Next time we’re just going to get extra bacon because that was the best double cut bacon I’ve ever had. We decided to get the porterhouse for 2 and a ribeye. Both were excellent. They were the best non-kobe steaks I’ve ever had. My boyfriend doesn’t drink and they don’t serve wine by the glass, so I ordered the 1/2 bottle of Cab for myself. It was very overpriced at $39. I won’t bother with any wine next time. The bread basket was wonderful. It was really a great selection. We ordered fries and creamed spinach for our sides. The fries didn’t look very good and they tasted about the same, but that might have been the best creamed spinach I’ve ever had
I took the man I’ve been seeing (who loves a good steak) here for his birthday on a Friday night. I had been agonizing over which steakhouse to pick – Luger was booked in advance so I couldn’t get a table at a decent time; friends recommended Sparks, but in looking at pictures and reading about the history, it sounded too heavy on the Sopranos theme and not heavy enough on the romance (turns out he’s eaten there already); then was thinking Mark Joseph downtown in the financial district (convenient for us both)… for which the reviews are all fantastic. So it came down to: Risk going to the Strip House (recent reviews sounded really bad) and have a good steak and good ambiance, or go to Mark Joseph and have a better steak but what appears to be more “Wall Street” crowd ambiance. I decided to go with Strip House. We had a 9:30 reservation. I had called twice to request a booth, but had been warned that it probably wouldn’t happen. We had to wait about 40 minutes (even having a re
I’ve only been to Landmarc for their brunch which is consistently excellent. I’ve only had friendly and attentive service, so I’m surprised to read that other people have had very different experiences. We love the pain perdue which is their version of french toast. It’s absolutely delicious. Coffee is also perfect (if you like dark roast). It’s a little expensive for breakfast, but on par with other places in Tribeca. There are often kids at brunch which I think gives it a warm and friendly air but if you’re looking for a quieter place then this is probably not for you.
