Where is the Best Steak in New York, New York?
Went to Keen’s for New Year’s eve with a party of 5 and had an amazing experience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a cool decor to a restaurant. The ceilings are lined with Sherlock Holmes-style pipes on the main level and Confucius-style pipes on the second level. There are at least 3 bars accessible at any given time and the main bar is big enough to hang out at regardless if you are eating or not. The second level sports a full-size piano, although there was no piano player on when I was there. Now to the food. We had the sliced/tomato and onion with buffalo bleu cheese as an appetizer – delicious. For the main course we decided to order 3 cuts of meat and have them sliced so we could pass them around family-style and the waiter and kitchen were more than happy to oblige. As far as meat goes, anyone who goes to Keen’s and doesn’t try the Mutton Chop is missing out. I had never had it, I didn’t know what to expect, but when we had all tried everything everyone at the table
After a trip to the Whitney (fairly close to Lenox Room) for a Picasso exhibition, we (my museum/dinner/party buddy and I) arrived on time for our reservation, but were asked to wait a while at the bar ’til a table freed up (probably about 15 minutes)…while we waited, we both enjoyed a glass of white wine (a pinot grigio for me and something that wasn’t a pinot grigio for her (sorry, I don’t know my wines). For the appetizer, she went with the Foie Gras Chicken Liver Parfait (I don’t think she’ll be having foie gras again anytime soon)…I went with the Crispy Shrimp Spring Roll (crisp and flavorful). For the entree, she went with the Wild Mushroom Risotto, which she seemed fairly content with…I went with the Roasted Gianonne Chicken (with a side of mashed potatoes), which tasted like a Rotisserie chicken that you can get at supermarkets, which is not say it’s bad, but nothing special. Also ordered champagne (Veuve Cliquot), which they had to chill before serving it. It was a s
Last year we went to S&W as part of restaurant week. We had lunch, and were floored by the great service and the divine food. Then we decided to go again this year.Right from the start, our waiter seemed utterly depressed and as if he didn’t want to be there. While I understand why he might not have wanted to work, it didn’t excuse him bringing his mood to work.We ordered from the restaurant week menu, to his dismay, but opted for a glass of wine and a side dish each – which, you would think – make him smile a little. It didn’t.I wanted my steak cooked medium, my fiance – medium rare. Well, I got his and he got mine. The waiter never came around to make sure we got everything the way we ordered it, and even after we switched plates across the table – he didn’t bother showing up. Also, when my fiance was running low on his wine, the server was nowhere to be found, to offer a second glass. I shared mine with him. When came time for dessert, we weren’t worthy of a table crumber or any
Are you super hungry? Are you carnivore? This is the right place. Yes, it serves a pricy juicy meat. Oh my good, meats are juicy and delicious; fresh from the kitchen one after another. Yes, they have a buffet for salad and some seafood as well. You know what I liked them; especially sushi, shrimp cocktail, and super tender octopus. I ate too much so, I did not have any room for desert, but they looked so good. This place is much better than the fancy steak houses where they charge $50 to $100 dollars a small potion of meat. After you try this place, you will not go back those fancy steak houses. Pros + Oh My Delicious Cons – Pricy
