Where is the Best Steak in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
I had a fantastic filet mignon w/ small side salad. YHere, you order your side dish extra (+$3-6). My husband had the panko crusted seabass and thought that splendid. However, it’s odd that they place your meat on such a huge plate by itself, serving your side dish on a separate plate. I thought that bad food presentation. Our waitress then recommended the Bailey’s chocolate cake (awesome) and Tiramisu (bland). They charge too much for average ambiance, average service, and below average food presentation. The food was good, but not worth the price. I was hoping for more of an experience: Fix the ambiance and make it more “cozy,” have the waitstaff a bit less Cheesecake Factory bold and more soft and personal, present the food in a way that makes one forget they had to order the side dishes extra… well – I would think that’s common sense.Pros + Good parking, Not crowded, Above average foodCons – Too expensive, Bad food presentation, Ambiance not kozy
My fiance took me here for Valentine’s Day with reservations. We arrived 10 minutes before our reserved time and were seated within 10 minutes, so that worked out perfectly. The “take-out” line was about 20 people long, though, which made for a very crowded lobby. Our server was ok, I’ve had better service. We never got any bread/butter that all of the other tables got with their meals, but we figured we didn’t need it anyways. I ordered a chocolate martini, which was great and my fiance ordered an Ameretto Sour – which was 3/4 ice. I had the plain filet minon which was broiled to perfection – it was one of the best steaks I’ve had and my fiance had the bone-in rib-eye which he was quite pleased with as well. We both ordered the mashed potatoes – which are very addicting – to go along with our steaks and we each had a dessert, which were ok, but could have been better. Overall I thought the atmosphere and food were very good, but the wait staff/servers need to be trained better
The service is what impressed me most; very attentive and knowedgable. Food presentation was first rate, with an appetizing placement of foods and sauces. My party and I enjoyed a wide array of items; From poultry, to steak, to seafood. All were deemed very good to excellent. I myself enjoyed the Salmon Oscar, a large portion of very fresh Atlantic salmon filet blanketed with equally fresh crab meat, lightly dressed in a velvatine rich bernaisse. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were a savory compliment to the complex flavors of the entree. An appetizer of crab cakes with dijon aloui sauce was both delightful and well presented. With tables adequately spaced, a fine harp presentation providing background, the dining area colored in floral design, and natural and candle-lit ambiance, I would rate this as one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.Pros + Service, Food, AmbianceCons – Parking, Coat Room Location
Hidden in Little Canada, the oldest community in Minnesota, is a tiny gem of a steakhouse that has delighted us every time we have dined there. We have visited the restaurant several times, since the first week it opened. We have been very, very pleased with the food and service every time. The most remarkable thing is the quality of the steaks. I would put them on par with the St. Paul Grill or Lindy’s. Each time we have dined there, all of the side dishes were also very nicely done. If one were to imagine what a restaurant steak experience should exactly be- top quality, flavorful meat, seasoned perfectly, done appropriately, and with each side dish exquisitely done, that would be Porterhouse. The particular site of this restaurant, 35E and Little Canada Rd. has seen every restaurant in this building fail since 1971. Porterhouse has been at this location several years, seems to be busy every night, and has a wonderfully solid reputation. In each of our visits we have seen a
The decor is absolutely decadent. I ordered a grilled cheese with a bowl of soup. The cream soup was outstanding. However, the grilled cheese left something to be desired, like melting. A very fresh location with many lunch options. I would highly suggest this place for lunch. Pros + Great SeatingCons – White Bear Lake
