Where is the Best Steak in Houston, Texas?
I’ve lived in Houston all my life and had yet to try Capital Grille. My lovely bf thought that Vday 09 would be a great chance for both of us to try it out. We went for the 13th to try and cut down on the crowds a teeny bit. We got lucky and snagged a parking space without valet. The restaurant was packed to the gills. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time and greeted by our very pleasant and knowledgeable server Rene. The wine list is extensive with choices in various price ranges. We chose an easy drinking cab and proceeded to go over the menu. Here’s what we had:Shrimp cocktail – 5 large, fresh, dense meat shrimp served on ice with a mild cocktail sauceFilet and butter poached lobster – melt in your mouth filet, paired with tender lobster claw meat over soft mashed potatoesKona crusted dry aged sirloin with roasted shallot butter – a flavorful crust of ground Kona coffee, something different and deliciousParmesan truffle fries – like McD’s on steroi
I’ve eaten here once and it was with a very large group. The chimichurri sauce and banana chips are good. Their tea is very good. I had a char-grilled seafood plate. They brought out plates of char-grilled vegetables for the group to share. Everything was very good, though by the end of the meal I was tired of the char-grill taste on everything. I noticed that the menu prices were very expensive (about $30 a plate) which is why I haven’t been back. The ladies room is very nice and original–it is a circular room where you are surrounded by stalls that are actually private bathrooms–each stall is its own room with a toilet and sink.Pros + tea, vegetablesCons – pricey, too much char-grill
My boyfriend and I have visited the Strip House several times and always leave impressed. Truly one of the best steaks I have ever had and the Blue Cheese fondue is a must! The service is always wonderful and the waiters are very informative. We always have a great experience and the Strip House is a must try and least once, especially for steak loversPros + Service, steaks, Blue Cheese Fondue
Don’t let the hidden location dissuade you; it is worth the effort, as the seafood here is as fresh as any upscale seafood restaurant in town. The chef in my opinion does an exception job of preparing the dishes I have sampled, and the presentation is always top notch. The interior decor is a bit over the top with the whole “wharf” theme, but the food is the star. The sauteed calamari is one of my personal favorites; fresh calamari, sauteed, not fried (fried is an option). Pros + Fresh menu as good as anyCons – Decor is not to my tastes
Lovely atomosphere, service is always excellent and the food quite good and more authentic than Fogo. Prices are reasonable for the variety of meats offered. And a big plus in my book is no suburbanites with screaming kids and flip flops which Fogo has become over the last 2 years. Highly recommended!!!!Pros + great food for the moneyCons – none
