Where is the Best Steak in Columbus, Ohio?
My wife and I went to Morton’s for the first time last night for a birthday dinner. Of course we had heard great things, but in the back of our minds, we were wondering how it would measure up to Ruth’s Chris, which we both love. Here’s my comparison of the two, based on my experience: APPETIZERS – the Seared Ahi Tuna at Ruth’s is good, but the Colossal Shrimp Alexander at Morton’s is amazing. Morton’s wins for this dish alone, however, my wife wasn’t too impressed with her crab cake at Morton’s. SALADS – At Morton’s they are huge, but not incredibly tasty or inventive (and who wants to fill up on lettuce before having their steak, anyway?) The Ruth’s Chop Salad is wonderful, so I will give them the edge here. SIDES – Again, I prefer Ruth’s Chris. Their baked potato tasted better than the one at Morton’s, and I’m quite partial to potatoes au gratin, which Morton’s doesn’t have. STEAKS – In my opinion, they are just about equal. I would give RC the slight edge on the taste of
I’m not a fan of steak houses personally, but being married to a big-time steak eater we go to steak houses quite often and this restaurant in this particular location has the best food by far. A slab of ribs, in particular, is superb; the meat is so tender that it will fall off the bones and melt in your mouth literally.
Off I-270 at Tuttles Crossing and across from the Mall. The air was very chilly and they had fans going. Cowboy decor. This is a step up from the usual Chili’s or Applebees (which I will not even go to). Better than Bennigans’ etc. It is very near the Marriott and corporate housing, so they probably get a lot of out-of-towners on business. Monday night: 1. Beef tips with mushrooms and red wine gravy V. good.–hearty and tasted good. Did not like the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. 2. Steak. We left $41 total with tip. To me that’s a little expensive for a week night with no dessert or alcoholic drinks.Pros + convenientCons – cold room
How can this possibly be true: Longhorn steak house receives a better overall rating in the “food” category than Ruth’s Chris????? Again with the overly commerical chain restaurant, overpriced, mass produced, nothing fresh about it, can’t believe I paid so much for it type of restaurant! You’re killin me : )Somebody please back me up???Ah well, like I said about Outback Steakhouse, “go for the draft beer and appetizers”, but for the love of all things tasty do not call this place a great place for steak.
We like this place a lot, we took our kids here for the first time and they thought the cook was really neat and his tricks were “cool and funny”, like when he tossed the shrimp around and threw the tails in his hat, pocket and even at the waitress lol. The only thing my son and I didn’t care for was the salad dressing, the onion/garlic flavor is strong and it didn’t really agree with our stomachs. Wish that they gave you another choice in dressing such as a ginger/sesame oil type of dressing. But I do love the rest of the food and their green tea!
