Where is the Best Steak in Charlotte, North Carolina?
The Wine- 2004 Malbec was decanted and served, has good legs on the wine and a nice smooth taste. The Beer- Dogfish Head IPA, out of bottle, wonderful as usual. Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale, out of bottle, wonderful. The Appetizers- Perfectly cooked shrimp, with two kinds of sauces, the crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had, the sauce made it.The Salad- Caesar salad was great, looked like lettuce chips with tasty parmesan cheese and the dressing was wonderful with just a hint of anchovies. Nice huge croutons! The Side Items- Asparagus and cheese potatoes were great, the asparagus was cooked well with a nice snap when bitten into. And the potatoes complimented the steak well. The Steak- 8 oz. Filet Mignon med/rare perfectly cooked and seasoned, a subtle taste of butter on the palate comes through nicely. The Dessert- free with our party since we were celebrating a birthday. They didn’t come out singing and embarrassing us which I liked. We had a chocolate cake with raspberry s
This was my 3rd trip to McIntosh’s restaurant. The first 2 times I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was awesome both times. But last night I finally tried the filet…. 13oz. It was overcooked, dry as a bone, and had that charred outside taste..and I ordered it medium rare!!!!! Oddly enough, the scallop potatos I got on the side were overcooked too… the cheese was bard as a rock and dark. If this is the standard, go to Del Friscos if you want a solid filet; theirs kills the one I had last night. I’m used to cutting into a medium rare filet and seeing reddish color and having plenty of juice seep out onto the plate. Not this time. I’ll give them one more shot though because my other dining experences there were good. Pros + Great atmosphere and serviceCons – Overcooked, dry filet mignon on my last visit, overcooked potatos on the side
The atmosphere is somewhat dimly lit. The seating is usually in a booth – which is good! I don’t care where else you go you can’t duplicate the blooming onion, its very good! Over the years however the portions seem to have got smaller and the prices have gotten higher. We don’t go here much anymore since the last few times we were disappointed with the food, prices and so so service.Pros + Blooming Onion is ALWAYS good, so are the saladsCons – Portions are small, Prices are high
Me and my wife have been going to the Morton’s in uptown Charlotte for a number of years now. Whether it’s to celebrate a special occasion, or if we are just in the mood for a great steak, Morton’s is our go-to place. The food is always savory–my wife gets the Filet Oscar and I always start with the Shrimp Alexander followed by the Chicago-style ribeye. We have been waited on by many servers, Meghan, Amy, Kevin, all of which have mastered the art of being attentive, yet not annoying. We went in last Saturday to celebrate my wife’s job promotion, and I was excited to see that the place was jumping with people–glad we made a reservation! Our server was great as usual, very knowledgeable about the menu although less high-spirited than some of the other servers I’ve had. The only downside of the night, I have never dealt with at Morton’s before. There was a guy in plainclothes that was kind of making laps around all the tables and he looked like he was just ready to explode on s
Had family in from out of town and decided to try somewhere new. Read the reviews and was somewhat hesitant but decided to try anyway. I’m glad we did. Appetizers were great, the shrimp & peppers, especially the shrimp!!. Most of us ordered steak the filet and ribeye, both were excellent! Juicy and very tender. The ribs were great too, fell right off the bone. The waiter, Nicholas was awesome (he even kept a smile while trying to make my mother in law happy!)& the manager came by to make sure everything was ok. I was very empressed with this place. It was decorated like a good ole steakhouse and wasn’t loud or too busy. Food was great staff was great. What more can you ask for. Definately going back.Pros + pretty much everythingCons – none that I saw
