Where is the Best Steak in Austin, Texas?
You’ll have to try really hard to find something to complain about with TLC. Wonderful steaks and chops, huge potatoes, wonderful while-you-wait peanuts, and an extra special dinner salad. Great, cozy atmosphere. Not too pricey, either. The discount offer on the receipt is an extra special tidbit, too!Pros + good service, large portionsCons – a little pricey
Chez Nous is small but the staff is very attentive and the food is great. You do not find sweet breads on many menus but here they are wonderfully prepared. The escargot and the duck mousse pate are excellent. We did have to wait a bit but stood at the bar and had wine. Highly recommend.Pros + Excellent StaffCons – Parking; Hilton hotel is a half block away and has available parking
We went out with out-of-town guests over on Saturday night. We waited in the patio tent (which is not warm enough for a chilly night, even with heaters in place). The live music entertainment was average. We asked for frozen margritia, which IS on the drink menu. The server told us that they don’t make the drink because “the weather is too cold” and no one order for it, so they won’t make it. We asked for draft beers instead, they do not have draft beers, but only have bottle beers. It’s a pricey resturant and they do not have funds to have a draft beer machine? The server dropped a glass of Merlot (RED wine!!) all over me halfway when we were still waiting for the table. My jacket, sweater and jeans were all soak in red wine, and my husband’s shirts and pants were also got splashed. They offer a tiny glass of club soda to get the stains out… which was WAY not enough to treat my clothings. We asked and asked again for more club sodas and napkins, and they were taking their very sweet
My husband surprised me by making reservations at Truluck’s for my birthday. I had been craving great seafood for some time. As an appetizer we ordered shrimp cocktail which arrived in a steamy cloud of dry ice. They were plump and meaty. The sauce had a pleasant kick. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The crab was delicious and meaty and was neatly cut down the middle so I didn’t get too messy. The potatoes were very flavorful. The asparagus was the only let down of the night – stringy and too soft. My husband ordered the center-cut sirloin 8 oz well done. Very tender and flavorful and didn’t require any additional sauces. We were both impressed that the maitre’d served the steak and waited till my husband cut into the center to see if it was satisfactory. Our waiter did an excellent job as well. Was knowledgeable and courteous when needed and didn’t hover unnecessarily. Presented us with a seafood tray describing what was in season. Did a gr
The middle of the week in towne for my mothers birthday & that is how our delightful evening started, in a restuarant I’m familiar with from long ago & that when ever in town frequented with great anticipation. The decor had little change, but there’s restuarants & bars in New Orleans & other parts of the world I’ve frequented, that haven’t changed in 300 to 500 years.Aaaah that in & of itself is the ambiance I seek. Our hors de vours (appetizers I believe some may call them) were right on the money & seemed foreign in someway.Spain, Mid East, zesty, tangy, fresh & just as I’d requsted of my 2 seperate orders & most importantly to be at least 30 minutes completed before I even look at the dinner menu. The bread, hot, fresh, moist ready for the melted dipping butter with thinly sliced & crushed garlic & finely chopped challots that I requested prior to its arrival. As usual wherever my spouse & I dine we order widely different menus,so as to hafu.(share delightfully with loved ones, family & f
