Where is the Best Steak in Austin, Texas?
My friend and I happened across Houstons quite by accident. As we parked and walked up to the resturant the smell was intoxicating. Walking in we were promptly greeted and had a drink at the bar as we waited for a table. We were told to expect about a 20 min. wait but were ready to be seated in less than 10. The lighting is dark and cozy with touches burning throughout…what to make a good impression? Everyone looks great in this lighting. I had on a pair of jeans and a blouse and was rather casual but it did not make me feel underdressed in any way although if I had dressed up that would have been great is well. The food…omg…the steak was amazing..I think it was hickory? but the flavor was well worth it. Not a lot of extras served other than potatoes but you can add sides if your appetite desires more. What you get for the money….Ambiance…very tastefull food…great wines…and accomidating service….better wine glasses, china and silver….a nice suprise will definately go
My wife and I decided to give Moon River a try after getting a flyer on our car window when leaving Willie’s Ranch on Easter Sunday. Its just up the road from us and it had been a while since we last went there.Things have most certainly changed at Moon River. Easter was a very busy day at the bar and when we got there it took several minutes for the barteneder (Roger?) to get to us because he was a bit overwhelmed. We got our drinks and sat down to listen to some nice gospel music at the end of the bar. But they had the doors open and it was kinda hot in the bar so, my wife suggested we head outside. We noticed that people were eating, and the food looked good. They were advertising crabs and shrimp and so we decided to order some food. When we got back to the bar there was now two bartenders behind the bar and they were both still very busy, but the guy who helped us before finally took our order and refreshed our drinks and we headed back outside. We had a good time, but it
My husband and I just went to Ruth’s Chris last night to have a really nice date night. We were looking forward to a great steak and a nice bottle of wine, they did not disapoint. We strted off with the Oysters Roccofeller, which were good. I have only had them once before and thought they were just as good. We then had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, the wedge portion was HUGE and the dresing was great. My only issue was that they did not put enough dressing on the salad, but out server noticed right away and brought xtra without even being asked. Then came the highlight of the meal, I had the bone in cowboy ribeye and my husband has the NY strip. They came out sizzling in a small pool of butter and smelled divine. Keep in mind that you will probublly want to order your steak slightly under done since they continue to cook on the plate. My steak was crispy on the outside and perfectly done and juicy on the inside. We had the potatos au gratin and creamed spinach fo
This is an excellent restaurant to take your significant other or your loved one for fine dining. It has dim lighting, an intimate setting?.the ambiance perfect. The cuisine along with the presentation of it all is exquisite. Nothing on the menu will leave you disappointed; even the water they serve is fantastic?.it?s the best I?ve ever had. The only downside to the restaurant is the service. Please understand my critique is solely based on one that existed from dining in a large group. I should also mention that I frequent fine restaurants on the regular, so I have an idea of what to expect. I feel that a restaurant of this price and caliber, the service could have been much swifter and taken to the next level. There was about a 30-minute lag in between courses, crumbs were never cleared from the table, and the piece de resistance was when the food to be taken home was presented in a plastic white grocery bag. Seeing that was comparable to topping off a hot fudge sundae with a pickl
