It may not quite be Galaries Lafayette, but, that’ll do pig; and plenty of pig they have as one of the only importers of Spanish jabugo ham, said to be the best in the world (by myself AND other experts).Central Market wraps you in its inviting bosom of tasty samples, fresh brewed coffee and sumptuous produce, each carefully marked by origin. The layout of the store may be confusing at first, but after a single visit you will like it. It simply flows and makes sense in a world where big box grocers move aisles around like a bad habit without any semblance of reason. While I may not make it to the Farmer’s Market, CM allows me to remain committed to buying local. There is always a solid selection of Texas fruits and veggies, especially when citrus is in season. Although I may have to pay more, I can rest assured that I will be able to find everything I need from plump trumpet mushrooms to Texas dairy chesses. The bulk section allows me to buy just what I need to assure freshness in

It is a casual wine bar with a very nice patio perfect for lounging after work or enjoying the sunset. There was the occasional bum walking by, but no worries, they keep to themselves. Inside the wine bar is a different experience. The space seems a little cramped especially with the large crowds that tend to gather. We had chosen to sit outside because it was bit too loud for us, but everyone in there seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had participated in a tasting that we had found online but because their website is not very helpful I had to retrieve the address and location from citysearch. If you do happen to participate in an event that they are hosting make sure to also call and reserve your spot. There was a couple that did not reserve their spot and they were required to pay a surcharge, but were still allowed to partake. Servers are attentive but because occupancy was so high I did have to wait awhile to close out. Pros + Ambience; Wine; ServiceCons – parking; b

As you drive around Memorial Park’s West Loop, you will notice many joggers with different sized dogs. If you have ever run at this park, you will notice that your feet and lungs are covered with red clay. If you have a white, furry dog…be prepared for him/her to be peach after a run.We prefer the left side of the park with the tall pine trees for shade. Insects aren’t too bad and there are a couple of squirrels. There is some minor trash, so please watch what your dog tries to nibble. There are a few joggers who have their dogs off-leash even though this is not a safe practice and is against the City’s code. Sometimes, I see people playing fetch here too.Bring water for your dog. The fountains are a little skanky. I think there are two around the joggers’ circle.Because so many pets pass through here, also be aware of Giardia. Pros + Open areas away from joggersCons – Exiting the park takes some time

While on business I recently stayed at the Alden. I got pretty much what I expected. The room was small but comfortable and functional. The hotel is in a great location of many restarants and bars. They provided shuttle service to and from the convention center. This was very convienant and the driver was extremely friendly. The reason that I will go back to this hotel was the staff. From check in, to vale, to the bartenders I was greated by extremely friendly and attentive staff members. They couldn’t have made my stay more enjoyable.Pros + Very attentive, friendly staffCons – $250 rate/Small room

The waiter and view of downtown was great. The food and drinks were over price and not worth the cost. If you like to eat, be perpared to get something else later. The view is what you are paying for.
