This is a very large park and very popular among fellow Austinites. There is walking/jogging paths for those looking for exercise. There is a ampitheatre, soccer fields, and a huge playscape appropriate for the very little to the pretty big. There is a river that runs through the park for getting wet and playing in. There is place in the park down by the water where you can rent canoes for the afternoon or by the hour (life vest provided). There is a small education building that teaches lessons about the origins of the springs. There is train you can purchase tickets to ride. Ride last about 20 minutes and goes around the park. There is a nature center, as well as botanical gardens.
not only a good full selection book store, but a coffeehouse, a reading room, and a lecture and discussion center as well. i have whiled away hours here reading, refreshing with coffee and a pastry, and seen everyone from bob edwards from npr to tommy chong. they bring in many authors to speak and even host spike gillespie’s annual sex in public valentine’s day music and storytelling event. really a community center

The Continental is the ONLY place in town where you can still get a feel for what the Armadillo World Headquarters was like–this is the magic of Toni’s Hippie Hour. The Continental Clus is the BEST club in town, that’s all there is to it. From Tuesday’s with Toni to the Blues Specialists on Fridays to the ELVIS Shows, Buck Owens Bash, and so on and so on, you can’t go wrong. The folks there are great, the atmosphere is great, and the crowds are great. Peanuts at happy hour. And don’t forget all the Classic Cars you’ll see!!!
