The food is good the service is great and the atmosphere is amazing. The prices are a little high but remember you get what you pay for. Through in a movie and you have a perfect date.

My wife and I learned about the Roots from Portland Monthly Magazine. As a regular customer at Higgins, we were interested in how ?Higgins? foods transformed in to a new generation of restaurant. The first impression when you are trying to find a restaurant is not so impressive especially you see ?UPS Store? and other suburban shops sharing same parking lots. However, as you step into the restaurant, you will be surprised by a nicely decorated interior and friendly waiters. If you are regular to Higgins, you will quickly notice that waiter?s dress code, dishes, and menu are very similar to Higgins. I ordered steam mussels, salad with anchovies ($1 extra), and duck. My wife ordered a salada and a salmon dish. We asked both dishes to be cooked as rare as possible. We both agreed that mussels were very good but Higgins version has much more depth and complexity of flavor. Salmon was cooked according to our request (rare) and it was well balanced with potato side dish. Comparing

Good food is hard to come by…even at places you have to know Donald Trump or Lindsey Lohan to get into. Anyone can throw cream, butter and a truffle into anything and make it “tasty.” But, unique kitchen artistry cannot be obtained at cordon bleu or by apprenticing for a food network chef. It only comes with loving devotion to the taste, smell & texture of each ingredient. So, let’s talk: GROLLA’S happy hour from 5-6:30.For $4:”Charred Roma Tomatoes marinated in a roasted garlic and sweet red wine vinegar are stuffed with pine nuts, capers and red onions then served on mixed greens with a charred tomato vinaigrette.”One medium tomato stuffed with all the things mentioned above, plus a roasted garlic clove or two, also a tiny drizzle of olive oil and a few sprigs of rosemary. Reservations are a must! We were able to call that day and get reservations for later that night. Parking is confusing if you are not from Portland, but you can validate your ticket at PCG. I hosted my husband’s birthday party at Sweet Basil recently. There was a group of 12 of us plus one toddler. We started out the evening on the patio which was wonderful, a great outdoor dining location. It started to rain though and they moved us inside very quickly. The food was awesome (we love the crab wontons!) , the service was great and we really appreciated how hard they tried to make this a great night for my husband’s birthday. They helped me get his cake ready and even dimmed the lights when the candles were lit. We were a loud , rambuncious crowd and they took it all in stride. Thanks! We highly recommend this location for a special occasion.
