Where is the Best Special Occasion Dining in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?

The staff was excellent including a very friendly hostess. Despite the menu being only two pages, there was a HUGE array of daily specials without prices. Goat, lamb, pigs, seafood from all over… the list was way too extensive for a diner to contemplate and really know what they were having to pay. The serving sizes were huge; highly recommend ordering one dish per couple and sharing. Produce was not fresh – tomatoes served in salad were not ripe; side of vegetables (carrots, broccoli and snow peas) looked like they were of cheap quality, overcooked, previously frozen or all of the above. Ordered the wild boar. While it was tasty, it wasn’t as fresh tasting as I imagined it would be. With so many daily specials, such a small restaurant could only offer so many dishes if food was frozen, especially meats and seafood. Tried a scallop from my husband’s dish; it was by far the least fresh scallop I have tasted in the Pittsburgh area. Strongly suggest that the menu is made smal

My girlfriend and I ate here for the first time a week ago. I was very impressed by the highly attentive yet unobtrusive service that we received from the wait staff, as well as by the simple yet elegant decor. The fine environment perfectly matched the high quality of the food we received. We had some of the best veal and mahi mahi we’d ever treated our taste buds to, served in portions that were just right. We topped off our meal with white chocolate cheesecake, which (like the entrees and the restaurant in general) was sumptuous but not pretentious, delicious but not decadent. We enjoyed our meal there very much, and look forward to future visits.Pros + Elegant ambience, excellent food, parking lotCons – Pricey menu

My husband and I went to Morton’s last night for a Christmas Eve dinner. We’d never been there and thought it would be a good treat for the holidays. Overall, the service was top-notch. The only downside was that we tried to use their valet parking service but gave up after waiting in line for awhile. We had a reservation and our table was ready and waiting when we arrived (this is a major pet peeve of mine so they win huge marks for this one). Our waiter (Joshua) was attentive and friendly (without being obnoxious) and provided good recommendations. The restaurant was crowded but the level of noise was comfortable. The staff members were all very professional and courteous. We had the tuna tartare and oysters for appetizers, both delicious as were the salads. Initially we were both going to order the filet but I was swayed by the waiter to the NY strip. My husband ordered his filet rare and I ordered my strip medium-rare – both were cooked to temperature (although mine wa

A college student here in Pittsburgh, I find the Sunday Brunch at Grand Concourse a very enjoyable experience. Ever since the beginning of freshman year, we would head over to Station Square on a monthly basis not only to get away from the less than pleasant college campus food, but also for a good time. I personally look forward to the omelets – by far the best I’ve had here in Pittsburgh, but also to the fine selection of meats, vegetables, fruits, and other miscellaneous breakfast and lunch items such as the mini-doughnuts and the orange juice fountain. Although there is sometimes a substantial wait time on Football Sundays, there is usually almost no wait time, even for a large group such as ours. I look forward to continuing to see good services such as welcoming hosts and live music every month until I finish my studies here in Pittsburgh.

Dined at Nakama this past Saturday. I have always enjoyed hibatchi dining and then I went to Nakama and realized what I had been missing. Wow! What a fantastic time. The atmosphere is artistic, the service is great, the chefs are highly skilled and food is delectable. I went with a friend and a bunch of people I had not met before. It was a great setting to talk and get to know each other. Nakama serves the most tender and tasty filet mignon that I have ever had. The presentation of the sushi is absolutely gorgeous. Customer service was great, and I love the decor and ambiance. One thing is always true, a great time is had by all. It’s no wonder the place is always packed!! I highly recommend this restaurant for any and all. Don’t forget to join and become a VIP member for great treatment by management and great discounts sent to you regularly!
