Where is the Best Special Occasion Dining in Minneapolis, Minnesota?

This coming March will mark our third year getaway to the Graves for a Girl’s Getaway Weekend. We could care less about the modern decor or the happening nightclub. We go purely for the bed and the room. The room is completely soundproof so no noise from the nightclub downstairs, the room next door, or the hallway. Complete tranquility. The bed is the most amazing experience and we can’t begin to describe it. It’s like sleeping on a cloud. The minute we walk into the room, we jump on the beds and enjoy the luxury. It brings a smile to our face. The TV’s are amazing. The colors and lighting in the rooms are very calming and serene. All in all, it is the best place to recoup after a day of shopping and exploring the city.

The service is what impressed me most; very attentive and knowedgable. Food presentation was first rate, with an appetizing placement of foods and sauces. My party and I enjoyed a wide array of items; From poultry, to steak, to seafood. All were deemed very good to excellent. I myself enjoyed the Salmon Oscar, a large portion of very fresh Atlantic salmon filet blanketed with equally fresh crab meat, lightly dressed in a velvatine rich bernaisse. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were a savory compliment to the complex flavors of the entree. An appetizer of crab cakes with dijon aloui sauce was both delightful and well presented. With tables adequately spaced, a fine harp presentation providing background, the dining area colored in floral design, and natural and candle-lit ambiance, I would rate this as one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.Pros + Service, Food, AmbianceCons – Parking, Coat Room Location

We enjoyed our evening here very much. Everything we ordered was very good – best we’ve had in Mpls. so far (only downfall was the gnocci – very oily). We had a great waitress, loved the atmosphere, were warm on a cold night, the dinner was paced perfectly, the prices were about right, the meal filling, and the service was perfectly paced. I’d go back and have recommended others give it a try. Pros + food, atmosphere, waitstaff, parkingCons – none so far

A very fun and relaxing evening celebrating a birthday during the week. Very attentive, friendly, knowlegeable, but not annoying waiter who treated us with a great experience-ask for Chad’s area. The food was what they’re known for; seafood; with the ahi tuna filling up two of us that had split it, the shrimp cocktail was a bit dry but great with the cocktail sauce. Drinks were good size but expensive.Chad brought out a huge baked alaska with pumpkin ice cream for the b-day treat and it was delicious. The hostesses, waiters, helpers were charming us from the minute we stepped into the restaurant. It was a special eating event. I was disappointed that there wasn’t alot of diners and hope that isn’t a bad sign especially since Manny’s left.Pros + parking in ramp is easy, the staff treats you very well, seafood was perfect, romantic boothsCons – hign prices on food and drinks, downtown taxes, not a lot of energy during the week

A++++++++ I can see why we keep hearing about the Afton House. My husband and I dine out often at high rated restaurants in the Twin Cities and I must say this was one of the top dining dates we have had in recent years. Everything was suberb. Chef Justin visited our table and we could not tell him enough about how good the food was. The featured Trilogy entree was divine and so was the Chocolate Creme Brulee, not to mention an Amazing bottle of Pinot Noir. From the Riedel Crystal Stemware (Nice Touch) to the fantastic server and her assistant to the flambe show (My Husband had the flaming Steak Dianne and loved It!) everything was outstanding. Thank you so much for a great night. We’ll be back soon!!Pros + Everything: Service, Food, Wine, Chef, Manager, Tableside Flambe…Great Dining!Cons – 20 minutes from our house…….wish I lived closer……but will be back soon!!
