Where is the Best Singles Scene in Providence, Rhode Island?
The bar is great in every aspect. Great mix of old and young, white-collar and blue-collar, college kids and townies. Three bars in three sections/rooms. Lots of space to accomodate large crowds – which is a positive and negative depending on what you want. St. Patty’s day here is the best in Providence – great mix of true Irish culture and celebrating. You can actually “meet” others here! Food is ok, but the Irish aren’t known for their cuisine… True Irish folk are scattered throughout the crowd.Pros + large, friendly, good mix of peopleCons – can get crowded
We went after a happy hour to keep the night going. For a place that claims to be elitist and selective, they should step it up a notch. It was a divorcee’s paradise! We had fun with the crowd though. We bet each other money and drinks to dance with the lame-asses on the floor. The funny part was how receptive they were to us! Desperation on their part really…
I visited on a wednesday night for cocktails with friends the martini’s were fantastic: try the coconut grove! I had the same it was incredible large portions and cooked perfectly. The band was really entertaining a little loud but great music. The service was good overall. I’ll definitly be back.Pros + 50+martini’s, delicious foodCons – dark, loud, no parking
If longevity counts for anything obviously the Hot Club is doing something right. You get a very good mix of people from suits to jeans from young to old. Reasonable drink prices and decent service. In the summer the deck is open with a seperate bar. The club sits right on the Providence River. I have spent many summer days that started with a few drinks for lunch and found myself leaving at midnight! The only downside is the parking, lot only holds maybe 10-12 cars and on street parking is basically nonexsistent. It also can get very crowded and busy in the summer with winter months being very quite. Pros + On the water, mixed crowdCons – Parking
This place is fun. I like bars that feel a bit rowdy, like you’re walking into a different world. The place is very causal, very relaxed, it’s like “Cheer” meets “Biker bar” meets, “Local drunk fun people bar”. There’s a dog there. There’s a man with a long grey beared, leather vest, beer belly and huge grin on his face, there’s a bartender who commands her crowd and will take care of you like you’re her own child. There’s a juke box and sometimes a bad. Pool tables and plenty of seating indoors. Some outdoor patio action as well.Pros + FUNCons – if there is a band playing you can’t hear yourself or the person you are trying to talk to.
