Where is the Best Singles Scene in Portland, Oregon?
My husband and I stayed in Portland recently and picked Dante’s for their Saturday Night show – Subterranean Caberet. There was a Seattle group playing, and we found both the music and show to be very entertaining! It was my birthday and we were so lucky to wander in! The musicians, dancers, MC, and crowd were all upbeat and the atmosphere was friendly and in party mode. There was a very diverse crowd – all ages and style of dress from jeans and sweaters to short black dresses and heels. No baseball caps. Two drinks were 11.75 plus tip – pretty typical.I have two cons that I want to share with readers. The first is that the service at the large bar was horrible. I thought my husband was exaggerating about her rudeness, so I attempted to order the next round with no luck. She wasn’t busy, just leaning and chatting. I was going to write a review about Aura, but instead…Honestly? I have been to a lot of bars and clubs downtown and I have had my fare share of problems, usually my own fault cause I’ve been drinking lol. On the other hand, some places have horrible management and customer service. I wasn’t there pdxgrl, but are you seriously trying to place blame for you loosing your own stuff? You are an adult, at a bar, and drinking! Are you sure you weren’t given your number, or what ever you get at the coat check? Or did you just drop it on the dance floor or leave it at your table? Seriously, what did you want management to do for you? Give me a break. Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions. Did you expect the manager to hold your hand and walk you home while they were busy babysitting hundreds of other drunks?Pros + The food here is awesome!Cons – A little pricey for what you get.
I enjoyed this pub because they play a good variety of music and there is a small dance floor for those who want to dance. The McFadden Girls are hot and make the trip worthwhile. It was just opening when I went, so the drinks were mediocre. Went here on a Thursday night for happy hour. Was busy but still was able to get a seat for 2 people. Loved all the choices of drinks (their website is really well done, too, and I even picked my drinks ahead of time). We were starving too, so ordered some spreads and cheese. The drinks were good, and the food was absolutely wonderful. The Vault is high on my list for ambiance & eats, and somewhere in the middle for the drinks (that I tried that night). I will be sure to come back and try more of them!!!Pros + Ambience, food to nibble onCons – nothing major
