Where is the Best Shoe Repair in Portland, Oregon?
Nob Hill Shoe Repair has a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They know their shoes! I had a rubber sole put on a pair of leather shoes and they had it done the next day. The shoe looked like it was supposed to come with that sole on it. It looked great! The staff was very helpful when it came to helping me with some comfort issues I was having with another pair of shoes. Excellent craftsmanship and service. After impulsively buying some Manolo Blahnik’s in New York, I wanted to get them stretched a bit. I probably needed a half size bigger, but as I said, impulse buy (and only pair in the store). I asked around for referrals from friends and co-workers–I didn’t want to just take them anywhere, as stretching is an overnight process and I didn’t want them to “disappear.” My good friend who works at Nordstrom’s said her co-workers who have nice designer shoes recommened Dorian’s. The reviews on here seemed good over-all too.The staff were great and Dorian himself explained that they just stretch them a little bit at a time, as you can’t un-stretch if it’s more room than you need. But, if you find that you need more room, they’d stretch them again for free. I did end up going back last week (7 monthes later) to have them stretched again. Couldn’t quite get there on my own. The shoes are just right now. As some people have commented, Dorian does have a sarcastic sense of humor, but so I do,
I’m not a vindictive person, but the service at this place makes me angry. I kept going back, thinking it would get better or they were just having a bad day. The shoe repairs are subpar, they don’t bother to polish your shoes after they’re fixed and I’ve heard more than once, “We can’t fix that”. I understand them trying to do right by the customer if a repair isn’t going to last very long. But if the shoe is basically trash without the fix and I’m willing to pay, then why tell me no? The guys behind the counter are nice enough, but they have this laissez-faire attitude that is just maddening. Most notable example: I brought in a pair of shoes with a loose heel. The fellow who helped me said that he wasn’t going to be able to tell if they could fix it until he took the shoe apart, but that they would call me in a couple of days if they couldn’t fix it. I left my cell number. The pickup date he gave me was for two WEEKS out. They always want at least a week and a half, whic
Rubio … is an excellent shoe repairman. I had the opportunity to work with him when I was only nineteen. He’s very organized, neat, and very meticulas in everything he does.
