Where is the Best Shoe Repair in New York, New York?

As I read these reviews, it is very sad. I came here to double-check the address of this business. I too used to come here as I’d heard they were considered one of the best places in the city, and while I don’t have any specific horror stories, I too noticed that the overall service wasn’t what it used to be. First off, it seems everyone there now is Latin and speaks limited English. Which certainly doesn’t help matters if at the same time, you aren’t getting quality work done. And what are you to do when you encounter workmanship problems, and again, the staff only speak limited English? It’s a real shame as this just seems to be one more art (shoe repair) that is slowly dying. There are so few TRUE cobblers left in the city!By the way…I hope those of you that had service issues with them are reporting it to the Better Business Bureau!Pros + none?Cons – many?

I’ve had two different bad experiences here, which makes me not want to return although I feel I must to get the shoes I want,, but the salesmen will try to make you buy shoes that don’t fit, and that you don’t want. They are aggressive and care not for your feet only their commissions. My husband, whose no pushover was also pushed around by a burly salesman, who insisted he try shoes he did not want. Too bad…Pros + Shoes are goodCons – Terrible salespeople

This shoe repair service is recommended often by the fine shoe purveyors in the Madison Avenue area. I found Jim’s always do an excellent job on my fine footwear. The shoe shine service is also very good and a popular destination for many of the local business professionals.

I have been to Angelo’s twice to have them do work on the same pair of shoes. Both times the work had to be redone. Every time I have been there, the woman behind the counter is rude and lectures me. I am polite, and ask specifically for what I need/want to be done to my shoes. These are very expensive shoes, which is why I continue to get them repaired, and I would be happy to pay well for it to be done correctly. The first time, when the work had to be done twice (to shorten a strap), the woman ordered me to tip the man who did the work because he had to do it twice. This was not my fault, but I went ahead and tipped him, as he was nice to do the repeat work while I waited. On the most recent visit, I had the shoes resoled (rubber), and one shoe bed glued back down. When I went to pick them up the shoe bed was not repaired, and I had a question about the way the shoes had been resoled. The woman started lecturing me in a very loud voice in front of my husband and another cu
