Where is the Best See and Be Seen Bar in Indianapolis, Indiana?
The Red Room to me is a waste of a very nice space. I didn’t get to see it when it first opened a few years ago and I bet it might have been very classy at first. I do like the physical atmosphere there. It has a candlelit and very warm-looking decor. That warm look is deceptive though; it was freezing cold inside the night I was there (late April 2007). They had ceiling fans going full blast in anticipation of the crowds, which did arrive after a little while (around 11 PM). What wrecked the experience more than anything for me was the horrible music selection. An iPod would have done a better job as a DJ (or maybe one *was* the DJ). For example, they played Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”. Not just as a joke or for spice, they played it seriously from start to finish. This was back-to-back with Avril Lavigne’s teeny-bopper stuff, Usher stuff from like four years ago, etc. Top 40 and stuff that’s not old enough to be old-school and cool to hear, just slightly old and stale.
