Where is the Best Seafood in Portland, Oregon?
I’ve been going here for years. Every meal has been beyond tasty. The wine has affordable options if you aren’t looking to spend a lot and they come in 8oz pours, too. We love the stuffed salmon and crab/artichoke/mushroom sauté. The truffle cake is to die for and we have it EVERY time!Yes, sometime the service is better than others but it’s never been bad.I’m not a fan of the happy hour items and the HH food isn’t as good as the regular menu.Pros + Delicious food, good service, affordable wineCons – Not a good last minute dinner without a reservation, HH
My wife and I ate there Thursday night after walking around the pearl district for and needed to eat some good food and heard the Fish Grotto was a good place for fish. Being tight on money and wanting a variety of dishes we were intrigued by the small plate menu. Walking in to the place was a blast from the past, beautiful mahogany wood but dining area in serious need of a make over.Whatever reservations i had about the decor quickly changed once we were greeted, sat, and were brought a small plate of sweet potato chips with a wonderful honey (and molasses?) drizzle. We ordered the watermelon soup, and the three course selection first which included scallops, albacore tuna, and a blueberry creme brulee which were all paired with three different wines to accentuate the flavors of the dishes. Good food is hard to come by…even at places you have to know Donald Trump or Lindsey Lohan to get into. Anyone can throw cream, butter and a truffle into anything and make it “tasty.” But, unique kitchen artistry cannot be obtained at cordon bleu or by apprenticing for a food network chef. We continue to go back to this restaurant for their wide variety of fresh fish dishes. I am impressed with everything about this restaurant, the food, the service, and the value. Everything is always gourmet tasting, and is consistent. The four of us go here at least 2 times per month and they continue to please us with new dishes using their fresh fish. The appetisers are wonderful. They gave us a free appetiser sampler for calling our opinion into a 800 number. I love their wine by the glass, especially the upscale Merlot, which comes in a large glass, the best. We also like the new Beaverton location but spent most of our money at the Milwaukie location since our friends live in Milwaukie.
