Where is the Best Seafood in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
Stopped in here just for drinks before meeting friends at a different place. We sat at the bar. The bartender did make some great drinks but the service was slow. Apparently they had a DJ coming in too, because he was setting up while we were drinking. The place still has it’s ambience and some of the trendy crowd still seems to be there, but it’s lost some of it’s lustre. I don’t know that this can be attributed just to Fhima’s though. For a while there St. Paul was the scene when all the places clustered around Lawson were new. They drew some of the Minneapolis crowd away and some of the 9 to 5’ers stuck around to check out the new places, but I think on the whole for the trendy scene St. Paul is played out. It seems with the new bars and clubs opening, once again Minneapolis is the late night destination.Pros + Still the same Fhima’sCons – *STILL* the same Fhima’s
I have been going to Jax Cafe in Beautiful Nordeast Minneapolis since 1965. Over the years I have had club and business meetings, and business and personal lunches/dinners/brunches at Jax. I had my retirement party in the Cosmopolitan Room in 2002 with 150 guests. My church celebrated our 90th Anniversary with a dinner for 255 happy guests. I continue to see past business associates, who I previously introduced to Jax, coming in to entertain their current business contacts and to enjoy their own personal and family celebrations. The pianist plays my favorite song, “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. That’s what I always receive at Jax is, “My Way”. The food is of the highest quality, the service is excellent and friendly, and the managerial staff is always congenial and professional.
A very fun and relaxing evening celebrating a birthday during the week. Very attentive, friendly, knowlegeable, but not annoying waiter who treated us with a great experience-ask for Chad’s area. The food was what they’re known for; seafood; with the ahi tuna filling up two of us that had split it, the shrimp cocktail was a bit dry but great with the cocktail sauce. Drinks were good size but expensive.Chad brought out a huge baked alaska with pumpkin ice cream for the b-day treat and it was delicious. The hostesses, waiters, helpers were charming us from the minute we stepped into the restaurant. It was a special eating event. I was disappointed that there wasn’t alot of diners and hope that isn’t a bad sign especially since Manny’s left.Pros + parking in ramp is easy, the staff treats you very well, seafood was perfect, romantic boothsCons – hign prices on food and drinks, downtown taxes, not a lot of energy during the week
I went there for drinks and although the bar was busy, the bartender took time to make something special. I am not a big drinker so he asked me what flavors liked, how strong I would like the drink to be, and he came up with a great custom drink! What ever he made, I love it and have gone back a few times with friends to enjoy them. Great service, ask for Ben.Pros + serviceCons – none
We happened upon this place by accident – had heard of it but weren’t planning to go – on an off night (Wednesday). First and foremost, the service was great. Not snobbish while not fake as happens all too often. I always feel uncomfortable when the wait staff kisses up. Our waiter was very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. The wine list appeared to have a number of reasonably-priced wines – we found something very nice without having to splurge. Our salad and entrees were wonderful – great attention to detail and all flavors worked remarkably well together. For the record, we had the butter lettuce salad, roasted butternut squash agnolotti and the stuffed trout (onion, mushroom and bacon), and were treated with a free taste of the fries with paprika and aioli, which were outstanding as well. All in all, this is probably the overall best restaurant experince we’ve had in some time, and I’m frankly surprised that I’m saying that as we’ve had a lot of great experiences (and some n
