Where is the Best Seafood in Denver, Colorado?
My friend and I went there for lunch and overall I found the place very disappointing. The staff was very nice and greeted us outside and made us very welcome. Our waiter was attentive and talkative, not that smiley though, but it wasn’t a problem. The place stunk, almost like a raw or stale shrimp smell, I have been to several seafood restaurants and never smelt anything so bad. Our garlic bread was crisp and tasty. My fish and chips had nice fries, but the mahi mahi was tasteless. The mudpie dessert had no flavor, except for tons & tons of sugar. Our bill was $44.18 for two people, I don’t mind paying high prices for seafood, but I expect high quality, not this junk. If you want good seafood, go to one of Denver’s excellent non-franchise seafood restaurants, heck even Chilli’s or Applebees beats this place hands down. The only saving grace was the good service (4 stars) the food was awful. Pros + Good serviceCons – decor, poor quality entrees, pricey, and lack of value
I recently went to dinner with my coworkers at Simms Landing. We arrived at 5:30 so we sat on the patio for happy hour. Happy hour specials are great with $4.50 (maybe $4.95) apps, including a half dozen oysters and $2 to $2.50 drinks (wine, well, draft Coors Light). The oysters were great and the artichoke dip was not so great, a bit runny and needed a bit of spice. When our party arrived we went into the dining room for dinner. The view for dinner was great as was the view for happy hour on the patio. The sourdough bread was wonderful, the salads were pretty good. We ordered six entrees and satisfaction varied. The people who ordered red meat were not overly impressed while those who ordered seafood or chicken were happy. I had the Sea Bass Napoleon and it was outstanding. The dessert tray is very tempting with a lot of great choices. We settled on the Tiramisu. The espresso and cappuccino were also very good.Overall, a very good place to go to for seafood. The views are
We have lived in Denver since 1995. and years ago, the places to go out were, and still, the Gaylord District, Pearl St in WashPark or Downtown. We all have our favorite places, but, recently in the last three years, the resurgence of Highlands has made a solid case in one of the hottest neighborhoods. We now go to Highland Pacific frequently, and they are much more busy now than their first year. Everytime we go there we are greeted with warmth from the everyone, not just the staff, of course, there are times when we wait longer than planned…we expect to wait at the best places…a busy restaurant is a good thing! we think it is worth every minute of wait. Reading the “terrible” review below, i am somewhat hesitant and confused about this account of the events by “russ22”. Sir, we WERE THERE and yes they were extremely busy that night…and yes WE ALL waited more than originally planned. I’m not overly concerned about the details at the table, sure…EVERYONE, you included,
Palomino is successful for a reason. Beautiful atmosphere, great food, and normally great service. Our special requests were followed to a tee. No butter, no problem. One guest ordered simply grilled fish; in this case Halibut and it arrived flavorful and elegantly presented. A perfect example that fish neednt be slathered with butter and sauce to taste wonderful. This doesnt just happen, theres talent behind the magic. If you are a fussy eater or just dont feel like a high calorie meal, try Palomino. They are happy to accommodate! On the other hand, theres plenty of saucy dishes if you just want to go nuts. Try the Roasted Prawns piled around a mountain of mashed potatoes. I cant say enough about this place for a client lunch or dinner before a show. Prices are reasonable and if you tell them ahead of time youre entertaining clients, they double check on you to see all is well. Bravo Palomino! These ladies and gentlemen know Denver loves great service and food!Pros +
