Where is the Best Seafood in Denver, Colorado?
Got taken here recently (not my idea) because it has never been a favorite. My X and I actually had a part time gig doing mystery “shopping” for the management team many years ago. Didn’t like it much then and we were dining for free. Nothing has changed in the last ten years, including the decor which is in serious need of an update. I hate the canned recitation the servers are forced to deliver. Feels too “corporate”. Actually, the only thing I’ve ever like is the calamari and it’s still ok but at these prices everything should be flawless.Pros + calamariCons – everything else
the place was packed due to a show happening next door and everyone trying to get a bite to eat first. our server was great… the table of twelve rude middle aged racist women were not! we sat and listened to this group of women cut down the food, the waiter, the culture of louisiana, and the entire south, and then complain that the waiter was taking too long after they wanted twelve separate checks… get a clue ladies… you can’t get a group of twelve in and out in 45 min when the place is packed and you want separate checks. the kicker was when the manager whom, i over heard, name is meagan, pocketed the servers tips when the women decided to tip her instead of him even though it states on the menu that a gratuity of 15% will be added to your bill for large groups. we were in shock! food was pretty darn good… but make sure you hand your server the tip! who knew that was acceptable behavior on everyone’s part. shame on you women! shame on you megan! you’re what is wrong with s
I love this restaurants. They are very curtious and the owner comes out and personnaly greats you, the staff is ver plesant and show that they are glad to have you there. The food is really good just like good old southern cooking. Taste just like mamas cooking. lol. Put i would highly recommend this place. We had our wedding he in April and the catering and room that was provided for was amazing.
I am from Baton Rouge, so I would like to think I know a thing or two about Cajun food. Not only is Gumbo’s my favorite restaurant in Denver; I would compare it to many of my favorite restaurants in Louisiana. I had friends from “home” in town this week, and I was looking for a restaurant to impress them on their first trip to Denver. I initially dismissed Gumbo’s because taking a Coonass to a cajun restaurant is like taking sand to a beach. After weighing my various experiences at the many options in Denver, I eventually decided on Gumbo’s because of the consistency of service and food. I have never had a bad experience there, and this week was no different. The ambiance and service would indicate a much more high-end bill to go along with the high-end experience, but for 8 people with appetizers, entrees, (many) cocktails and a couple of shared desserts, our tab was $420. Sure there are less expensive alternatives, but there are few that live up to the value you get at Gumbo’s.Thou
Had dinner with son and daughter in law. Sunday evening at @ 8:00 pm before New Years. Place was half filled. Waiter was very friendly and engaging. Drinks were well executed and the menu looked good. The seafood and calamari were excellent, the pasta very good. Desserts were OK. Wine list was good with fair prices. I could go here 5 times a year and always be happy. Highly recommended for good dining at reasonable prices and fine service.Pros + Great food good value good serviceCons – I dont live here year round
