Where is the Best Seafood in Austin, Texas?
My boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn’t want to walk that far (it’s really not that far but there’s a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn’t expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town. Pros + comfort, great staff, poolCons – wakling distance from downtown
Last night my wife and I went to Bellagio, although a little far from where we live, we couldn’t resist given all of the great reviews. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. The atmosphere was cozy, but a little too warm for me. I had sweat dripping off of my forehead all night but, back to the food. The appetizers and salads were very good, but in my opinion it’s pretty hard to mess those up. My wife had the bistecca tuscany, which was bland at best. It tasted like something I could have made at home with some bottled ragu. I had a salmon special which was ok, but not mind blowing. The wine list seemed fine, so no disappointments there. It’s definitely going to be hard for you not to try Bellagio given the number of great reviews, but given the cost, in the end, don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s very unlikely we’ll ever head out there again, unless it’s at the request of someone else. My S.O. and I dropped by the Bistro at a family member’s recommendation. We couldn’t decide between the sushi bar and the dining room, but eventually we opted for the plush chairs and white tablecloths in the main room (you can get sushi anywhere in the place). There are, incidentally, some pretty excellent paintings on the walls, which don’t exactly make sense alongside the blue aquariums of fake jellyfish and waterfalls, but whatever. My S.O. and I both get easily overwhelmed by the size of entrees, and the Bistro’s menu was so varied and long, we decided it would be a great chance to taste a lot of little things. We started backwards, in a way, moving from potstickers to the lamb chops appetizer (accompanied by a good glass of cab), then switching to the sushi menu (and sauv blanc). Apologies to food purists who would have reversed the order, but we just ordered what sounded good as we felt like it, and man, it was good that way. I especially recommend the lamb (!!!) and the spicy
We ate here for New Year’s Eve. Even though we showed up 40 minutes prior to our reservation, they sat us immediately. All of the staff were awesome and service was outstanding. Unfortunately, the marlin I ordered was raw in the middle. However, the manager immediately took care of it by removing my dinner from the bill ($30) and giving me a free dessert. The rest of our meal was great, although the scallops did have some grit in them.
WOW. This is on our regular rotation. Sometimes we just call and get the appertizer sampler to go.Though the atmosphere and service is part of the fun. It is always where we take out of town guests. It can only be described as down home perfection of spice and richness. It is that flavor that you can only get with a well tended roux and fresh stuff in the pot.The gumbo is the best…wait no the Oysters Bienville…but then there is the Smoked Boudin or wait can’t forget theShrimp Etouffee …Oh I can’t decide what is the best…just have everyone order something different and share….the portions are ample enough….save room for dessert!Pros + Locally owned, fresh non product food, cool main street locationCons – limited seating, some favourites are seasonal(not really a con just a disapointment)
