Where is the Best Sandwich in San Diego, California?

We read about Pappalecco in the Union Tribune on Thursday and it sounded so inviting that we went there late Friday morning. The sandwiches are awesome (they’ll be adding breakfast sandwiches soon); fresh panino, top of the line fresh ingredients, absolutely wonderful. I had iced tea, and you can have the traditional Lipton or you can choose from their selection of 6 various teas. I chose the green tea and it was perfectly brewed and icy cold…and freshly made. Even though it was late morning, we couldn’t resist the gelato. The choices were almost staggering. I had 1/2 cantaloupe and 1/2 watermelon; very light, refreshing, not too sweet. My husband had the chocolate-hazelnut….oh, my oh my, what a treat! I can’t wait to go back. It’s perfection! I can’t wait for the blog to be up and running. Pros + Food, service, ambience

I love this restaurant. My daughter gets the Matzo Ball soup every time. My favorite is the pastrami on rye. The bakery is AMAZING. I’ve sampled almost every dessert there. For cakes, the best is the one with the sliced kiwi’s on top. It’s a Jewish Delicatessin and the last time I was there I got a box of Hannaka Cookies in the shape of the star of David, Menorah and Drieydl. Where else can you find stuff like that in San Diego. If you’re into fancy, shmancy places – this is not for you. The decor is ‘diner – 50’s style’. If getting a dessert, I recommend the “Bloomingdales” – and split it with at least 5 friends.Pros + Super bakery – cookies galoreCons – Parking is terrible – it seems like that’s the case with any business that’s good. (sigh)
