Where is the Best Sandwich in Phoenix, Arizona?
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and this may very well be my new favorite breakfast spot. Tucked away in old town (I think, it was hard to find) and not much to look at from the outside, the orange table was fantastic. I had the Monkey Cakes (buttermilk pancakes?homemade mix–with coconut, sliced almonds, and bananas) per our servers recommendation and my fiancee had the Green Flannel (corned beef hash with eggs and thick sliced toast) . Both meals were wonderful and very generous portions. He had orange juice and a latte?both great, and I had some yummy jasmine green tea. The only downside to eating here is the wait (we wilted for ~30 min at 12 noon on Sunday) and the staff seems a bit disorganized. Our server was prompt and friendly, however, maybe just a little crazed by the rush. Pros + foodCons – wait, ambiance
LUKE’S IS THE BOMB…IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE BEST CHICAGO STYLE FOOD IN PHOENIX… THIS IS WHERE IT IS AT! I BELIEVE THAT IT WAS EVEN RATED “BEST OF PHOENIX” AND ANYONE WHO IS ANYONE KNOWS IT…I KNOW THIS CLEARLY BECAUSE I EAT THERE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND THEIR GREEN PEPPER ARE ALWAYS FIRM, THE MUSTARD IS SPICY, AND THE FRIES ARE ALWAYS PERKY JUST AS THEY ARE IN CHICAGO! I OUGHT TO KNOW BECAUSE I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN CHICAGO! ANYONE ELSE JUST DOESN’T HAVE A PROPER POINT OF REFERENCE…OH WELL, THEIR LOSS!Pros + GREAT MAXWELL’S
The waitstaff really hustled behind the counter to try and conjure up a deli atmosphere, but the results were not as spectacular. While the hot pastrami was pretty good, the corned beef was so lean as to be flavorless. The portions were quite generous and the sides, including pickle and grated horseradish, were good.Pros + servers, horseradish, outside seatingCons – corned beef
