Where is the Best Sandwich in Las Vegas, Nevada?
My man, “Paisano Mio” is an Italian who learned to cook with his grandmother from a small olive-town outside of Florence. The atmosphere is defintely Italian, and the patio OH SO INTIMATE. Paisano Mio’s complaints: service of wine slow if we wanted it before we ordered our food; 2nd carafe delivered without our ordering it; and he does not recommend the chicken cacciatore. He does recommend the ‘gabadills'(? dough dumplings) and the gnocchi (potato dumplings). I recommend the antipasto, caprese and the mussels linguini – and custom salads.
Pop’s is kinda sleazy in its ambience, service and clientele, but I think it just adds to the character of the place. It’s a cheesesteak joint, fer cryin’ outloud! It’s supposed to be a little sleazy. I could picture this place holding its own right next to Gino’s and Pat’s in Philly. Super big and tasty portions and open 24 hours. I love the peppers– kinda briny. Yum!Pros + tasty cheap foodCons – ocassional long lines = long wait, take the kids only during the day time!
Being a New Yorker at heart, the search for good Italian food is a never ending quest. I recently was told to go Montesanto’s by a fellow NYer I work with, but the place was so far from me in So. Highlands, I never gave it a shot. Well I went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. When walking in to this deli, you feel like you’re back in the NYC area, you wouldn’t be surprised to see Tony Soprano stopping by for a slice or a sub. It’s kitsch and cute, a throwback to the way things used to be, before corporations controlled everything. When trying new Italian places I almost always order Chicken Marsala, because it’s simplicity makes flaws stand out well. Their marsala sauce was light and classic, with tons of sauteed mushrooms and onions on it. While not the best I’ve ever had, it was clearly homemade and satisfying. My date had a dish they call penne ala Nicholas, basically mixed veggies in a plum tomato marinara with plenty of fresh mozzarella on top. I liked it, the sauce
My family and I love this place and are glad that we found it (it is sort of around the back in a pretty new shopping center). Every time that I go into Julieanne’s, it takes me forever to decide what I am going to eat because it all looks SO YUMMY. I never seem to make a bad decision though! They have a great regular menu with many healthy options, so I don’t feel too guilty, as well as many “specials”each day. My kids have options on the kid’s menu too, like grilled cheese or a grilled peanut butter banana sandwich (I ordered this for myself the other day). My personal faves: the green apple wrap, the granola that they sell by the bag, the tomato or butternut squash soup, and definitely the brownies (really big, chocolately, and sinfully rich). Can’t wait to see what they have this week (I guess I should try the bacon according to the review below). Only problem that I can see is that they may need more seating soon and as I said, they are a bit hard to find located off of Ea
